Gone to the mall…

I’m off to do a little bonding at the mall with my Mom tonight. Yes, yes, it’s not my favourite place on the planet but I do need some better shorts for my upcoming trip to the Caribbean. I figured I haven’t seen my Mom in over a month, so I should invite her along to keep me out of my shopping misery.

It’s taken all of my might to keep myself energized over work these past few days. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do, but for some reason I can’t seem to stay focused or excited about my current projects. Maybe it is the fact that I haven’t taken on anything new and interesting lately, and I’m just currently finishing up several smaller projects at the moment. Combine that with the fact that two of my clients are pissing me off because I am going to have to play “Guido” to collect the pittance that they owe me, and you get a chick who could certainly use a boost on the work side of things.

I’m glad that I’m going away soon. If you can believe it (of course you can!) I’m considering the thought of bringing my laptop with me on my vacation… No — Not to work, but to play with some new skills that I recently picked up in advanced Flash development. I guess that’s one indication that I enjoy my job, hey?

As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve taken off Chris’ link to his blog from my site for a while. I do this only because I’m still hurting some, and I don’t want this hurt to be magnified when I occasionally click on that too-easily-accessable-link to read all about his dating experiences. It’s just a self-preservation thing. I need to move ahead in my life, and this seems to be the least painful way to do it… less temptation to click and get hurt some more. I hope he understands this — and doesn’t take it as a slight against him. He certainly has every right to date, and discuss it on his blog as he pleases. I just need a few weeks to get into a better headspace before reading about it.

I must run. Time to meet my Mom in the shopping zoo.
