Where’s my head? Where’s my big toe?

[grumble] I’m so tired. I’ve taken on a ton of work again, and I love it, but it’s so hard to be creative when you are not feeling great (I’ve had a persistent cold for 3 weeks now) and there are deadlines that are almost at the point of being unreasonable. Okay, most of the deadlines are my own fault — I really like to have clients think that I am “Wonder Woman” and provide results in better time than everyone else (that’s a big part of why they always come back to me) but, I’ve gotta slow down some. [/grumble]

I’m heading out tomorrow night! (Oh, ya, that’s news… Not. LOL!) Zoe and Jason have invited me out to Sonar, and provided I can get tickets to this thing (huge DJs are in town, so it might be a little difficult) I’m looking forward to hanging out with their “gang”. It’s partly a birthday thing for one of the guys, and partly the monthly outing that we seem to have fallen into the routine of. Yay! DJ Dan is one of my favourites, and he’s going to be there, so I’ll love the music. That, and the croud at Sonar is usually fun, and always very into the scene, so to speak. It’s going to be a good time, I’m sure!

I’ve got this video editing project to finish for a tv/radio personality in the US, and I’m having a problem with finding my copy of Adobe Premiere… CRAP! I didn’t load it onto this laptop, as I haven’t had a video job in a bit, and now it seems to have dissapeared. Lovely. Argh! I’m going to be up all night again tonight. It was supposed to be delivered today, but I bought a day from my client, as I just can’t fit everything in.

Last night I was up finishing (if you can call it finished — I don’t, I think it’s a half-assed effort to be quite honest, but it’s something, and it needed to go out today) my flash software tour project. As there wasn’t a budget for professional voicing for this effort, I had to do it… and, well, it sounds… “okay”. I tried my best, but the tools I had to work with aren’t exactly studio quality, so that’s what the end result sounded like. Darnit — Oh well. Next time I’m going to push for a voice artist. The client really liked it anyhow, and said he’s already got a ton of great feedback. That’s a good thing. I think I’m going to revisit it next week anyhow, and do some revision to make it look better, and less rushed.

On the dating end of things, I’ve got a problem. Not that I’ve had a ton of time to date, mind you, but the date that I had last weekend is in a holding pattern while I try to get some of these projects off my plate. He’s called twice, and emailed twice, and I don’t know — He’s a nice guy, but not really my type. He made me laugh a lot, but I have some minor issues about things like, he doesn’t ever like to dress up, he’s a bit far away in Abbotsford, and he’s an avid traveller on his motorcycle. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind motorcycles, but I can’t imagine travelling that way all the time. He’s done several trips to Europe on it, but I want to see Europe with a rent-a-car. Besides, helmets and my head of hair don’t get along. I guess I have to break the bad news to him tomorrow. It’s too bad he wasn’t a closer fit to my lifestyle…? He really is a funny guy. God, am I picky, huh?

Well, better get back to digging in my software collection for the disk. I can’t do this project without it.

Adobe Premiere bad. AVID good. If you ever need a hand with the video side of things let me know, I have a full edit suite in my flat and am happy to help with that stuff.

I know how you feel about voice stuff, I’ve wound up doing voiceover for stuff a lot too. It’s gotten me better at VO, but I’m still not really very good.
