2nd date, and on to a third!

What a great night I had last night on my second date with Jeremy. (Yes, I asked him if I could use his name.) We started off the evening with a quick dinner at Aqua Riva down the road… They still have great food there, and I love the view at night of the waterfront. To top it off, they had one of my favourite wines (Domaine De Chaberton Merlot) in their features list so we ordered a half litre with dinner. As usual, I couldn’t finish my meal, so Jeremy helped me out some. I guess you can tell the second date is going to go pretty well, if the guy is comfortable enough to take you up on eating off your plate! ;)

Afterwards, we went up to Granville 7 Theatres to catch “Something’s Gotta Give”. As we were surprisingly early — the movie started at 6:50 — we took the time to get to know each other a little better face-to-face. You know, during that conversation, I honestly felt a little naive about some of the subjects that we were discussing, which is a bit unusual for me these days. After my time in LA, I thought I’d become much more aware of lifestyles, sexuality, and relationships. It appears that I still have much to learn… It’s refreshing to be reminded of that sometimes.

Just before the movie started, Jeremy went to grab us some snacks (diet pop for me — I was still full from dinner) and when he returned, he sat down kind of funny and ripped his pants, while spilling popcorn all over himself. Seeing it all in slow motion, was actually quite comical, although I’m sure if I were in his shoes, I wouldn’t have been laughing as hard as he was. He’s a good sport!

The movie was great, albeit painful in parts due to Jack’s character’s inept ways of communication with the opposite sex. It was fun to see an older couple go through the trials and tribulations of getting to know one another… I was actually a bit worried when I “got” many of the jokes geared towards aging and dating. For instance, the scene where the couple switched bi-focals, and didn’t realize it ’til later was pretty funny. I guess at any age, dating can have it’s ups and downs — But you’d think by the time one got into their sixties, they’d have it all figured out. I guess not. It was still a good movie, and definately fun choice as a date flick.

Jeremy and I decided after the movie to grab a quick dessert before ending off the date. “Death By Chocolate” seemed like a good choice, and we ended up sharing some chocolate decadence. I didn’t realize how long we’d been there talking, and when I checked the clock, I couldn’t believe it. I quickly called Vern to tell him that I’d pick him up shortly from games night. Vern and I had carpooled in together yesterday, and I didn’t want him stuck on the skytrain home unnecessarily, when I was downtown already, anyhow.

On the way back to my car, I think Jeremy decided to follow up on something I said earlier in the theatre — In one part of the movie, there was a very romantic kiss, and I leaned over and quietly shared with Jeremy that I have rarely been kissed in my adult life. It’s just not something that was available to any great degree in previous relationships, although I’m not sure why. I’ve always been a tad envious when I see a couple kissing like that.

So, just after we turn the corner on the way back to my car, Jeremy stops, says something I can’t quite remember, grabs me, and gives me this most remarkable kiss. It was sweet, soft, and took my breath away. I think I muttered something like “that was brilliant” (or something equally dorky) afterwards. Wow! Nice kiss…

We quickly made our way back to my car, I dropped Jeremy near his building, and thanked him for a wonderful night. I couldn’t have asked for a better second date!

I’ve invited Jeremy to join me at the party for Jenn & Paul’s engagement — I figure those of you that will be there won’t grill him too much, and it’s a nice foray into meeting some of the people that are important to me. He’s accepted, so on comes date number 3! Can you believe I’ve finally found someone that has made it to a third date? Yay!!
