Rain + Ski Hill = BRRRRR

I’ve decided as much as I love skiing, skiing in the rain isn’t so much fun! Granted, the conditions enabled me to have better control on the hill, thus reducing the panic factor which I tend to have go through the roof when I’m skiing on pure ice… But the rain makes the night so cold, especially with the wind that kicks up on the lift. I really do need to get better ski clothes I think. (Note to self: Stop being so cheap)

Mark and Melodie didn’t come up with me tonight, so I ended up skiing on my own. The upside to the rain was that I had the hill was almost completely to myself, due to the inclement weather conditions. I am, afterall, just a beginner, and some of those advanced (or think they’re advanced) skiers that fly past me when Cypress is busy really freek me out. I guess I can say the night wasn’t a total write off, as I did get almost two hours of skiing in — I really needed the work out. If I hadn’t gotten that speeding ticket on the way up the mountain earlier today, I would have called the day a complete success regardless of some mild hypothermia. (haha!)

Oh, I must mention something that happened the other night! For the first time since I can recall, I had dinner made for me! (Cue croud cheering). Awesome! Jeremy is a fantastic cook, and made me the yummiest pasta dinner! (He’s labelled it a “heart attack on a plate” but it was superb). Afterwards, we yacked for hours, and enjoyed the view from his place in Gastown. He’s got a neat little loft that overlooks varying architecture from Chinatown and beyond to the Expo Ball. The evening was awesome, and I had a great time getting to know him better.

My lucky streak returned today! I won a pair of tickets to the Austrailian Wine Fair next week at the Westin Bayshore! Woohoo! I’m terribly excited! I *LOVE* Austrailian wines… I’ve invited Jeremy to come with me to enjoy the evening — I’m sure we’ll have a TOTAL BLAST!

Deetria just called — She sounds really happy today! I’m pleased to hear that, because I’ve noticed that she’s been a little frustrated these days… Nothing in particular has given me reason to be specifically concerned, but she just hasn’t been her usually over-the-top-energizer-bunny-self recently. Pain can do that, and I’m sure her recent car accident has much to do with it. Big hugs to you Dee — We need to do a chick evening soon!

Keep the stories coming. I enjoy visiting regularily to re-live my single and carefree days.
