Oxymoron?

I just had an awesome experience with a dentist. For those that thought I had lost it yesterday, you should probably be more concerned today… I’m actually worried myself, because I walked out of the office thinking wow, I want to go back and be drilled some more.

Okay, that’s not exactly what I thought, but it wasn’t far off. LOL!

What I really thought was, hey, that chick is cool, and I should go and get my other tooth fixed by her next week if I can. See? It was close…

Actually, I’m going to be spending a WORLD of cash over the next month or so on my teeth. Can you believe that at a minimum, I have to fork out $6000, and that might not be all that I need? Apparently, I also need to go to a periodonist (sp?) to get my gum fixed where I had a cleft palate, so that when they do my bridge work (and all of the other work) the gum looks like it should, and not like I used to have a cleft there.

I swear, it’s a conspiracy. How can denistry, when all is said and done on one mouth, cost almost as much as a cheap car?? If you add in my previous orthodontics, my jaw surgery, and all the other past work into the total bill, you are looking at the price of a very expensive vehicle. (and, no, I don’t have dental, I’m self employed — Even if I did, they wouldn’t cover it because it’s a pre-existing condition due to a birth defect. *sigh*)

That’s crazy!

I guess I’d better get back to work to pay for it all…

Although it may not help you right now, local chambers of commerce usually have a group medical/dental plan available to members (which is really useful for the self-employed).

holy crap girl. That’s a LOT of money. Thank heavens for spousal health plans for me – I’m getting a few things extracted and a few more things drilled in August, and I don’t care to think about what it’s going to cost even with the insurance folks picking up 80%.

What dentist are you going to, by the way?

You know UBC offers free or discounted rates on getting work done on your teeth it is done by people who need to get credits in dentistry. ( My Step-Mother comes into town every year to update her skills ) You should check it out if you have alot of work to get done it wil save you some $$ bling bling…. Plus did you know that different dentists charge different rates you should ask if they bill acording to the fee guide ( sometimes dentists don’t bill this way and it is mucho gusto bling bling ) another thing is if it is a cosmetic dentist ( usually the sign outside will say this ) you will be paying alot more and they will try and convience you you need all these expensive veneers… Have a great day!

Don’t do it!! Student dentists are evil! I dated one for an exceedingly short while. She sounded nasty. She loved it when little children cried.

Yeah student dentists take the Dr. Josef Mengele’s guide to patient care. I remember hearing horror stories from students I worked with while at WebCT. Tales of slipped drills, novocaine injections in the wrong nerve… Pay a professional, you don’t need an inexperienced student playing Marathon Man on your pearlies.

If you let me pop you in the mouth with a bat it wouldn’t be considered a pre-existing condition.
