Quick sanity break!
It’s 6am. Do you know where your web application developer is?
Well… This one is STILL at work. And, I will be for some time yet. Sleep? Bah! Who needs sleep when you have ephedra? Crap — I *know* I’m doing very, very bad things to my body staying up like this three days in a row with a total of six hours of sleep from the last two nights.
I just went to splash some water on my face in the bathroom, and almost freaked out when I saw someone else in the mirror. It couldn’t be me looking like that. Good heavens — I could scare small children at the moment. Children? Okay, I would scare anyone right now. I’m not a pretty picture.
Tonight, while I was toiling away on this project that shouldn’t be taking nearly this long (but is, because I’ve run into one technical issue after another trying to incorporate video effectively into a flash component of the site without losing all semblance of what it should look and feel like) I decided that my life is certainly worth more than this. I love my clients, but I’m sure they’ll understand when I tell them the project isn’t going to be done at super-human speeds. I’ve missed out on so much fun this long weekend, and now it’s going to take me four days to recover from this marathon.
I did, however, manage to take some time to go to my first rowing regatta yesterday! That was awesome… Even in my exhausted, 3 hours rested state, I found that I could completely enjoy the races without worrying about the work that was awaiting my return to the office. I’m so happy that I didn’t give that up also. Our team from the early Mon/Wed class came in second of five and I’m convinced we could have done way better had the whole class showed up. We had three subs of eight people, and our cox/coach was in the other boat. Needless to say, I think we did very well under the circumstances! I’ll post pictures as soon as I have some time to put into personal stuff in the next few days…
Now I must get back to work because I have many, many hours left before I can call it a night. Err… Day.

Yeah, Sleep…. I believe that humans are evolving in to a infradain [longer than a day] sleep rhythms from that of a circadian cycle [24 hour period] because our lifestyle demands this. And then corporations will start looking into hiring those people because they in turn add more profits and dividends to their shareholders, etc.. Having spent time in “Cube-Farms,” the correlation between these and Chicken-Farms is staggering. For chickens, it is simply design to make them lay more eggs. For humans, it simply to maximize output though quality and quantity of life is secondary.
Oh yeah, ENJOY BC DAY will you!
Have you ever noticed that the August long weekend holiday Monday is called something different in every province?? In Ontaio it’s “Civic holiday Monday” – Excep in Ottawa, where it’s Colonol By Day… Either way, enjoy your holiday!!
Thankfully, Tom… I have a really nice office, and not a cubicle. That said, this weekend, I wished I was home at not at the office. I hope you had a fab. long weekend, even when I didn’t… so much!
Lizz! Thanks for dropping by! Yes, I believe it’s weird to have each province (except PQ… Theirs is sometime next week I think?) have their own holiday. A bit bizarre!!
