Summertime activities!
A whole week between posts! What can I say… I’ve been kept pretty busy!
I had wanted to post when I actually had photos from last Friday to include, but alas, my camera (and I) haven’t been home to charge the battery so that I can obtain said pictures. Due to mounting pressure from various sources, though, I thought I’d better buck up and fill you in…
Our “Girls Gone Wild” night last Friday was a lot of fun — We began the evening enjoying some pints (or in Corree’s case, enjoyed some coolers) and obtained dinner from The Morrissey. After we’d all worn our welcome out there, we moved next door to Ginger 62, where we consumed some extremely expensive but very yummy martinis and caught up with more friends. Unfortunately, there were no burlesque dancers there that night as we’d read on their website, but still had a fun time yacking and taking silly pictures. Next, we danced our asses off at The Caprice — Which was actually playing some reasonably good tunes for a Vancouver nightclub. And then finally, the diehards — Corree and I — sobered up (or tried to) at Subway before saying goodnight for the evening. Good times! Thanks everyone for coming out and enjoying a chick night with us all!
Lorelei’s birthday was celebrated on Saturday afternoon/evening at her place with a BBQ. I couldn’t help but notice how times have certainly changed in just a few short years. A few years ago, celebrating Lorelei’s birthday with a BBQ meant that everyone hauled out the beer and coolers, and partied the night away playing tipsy bocce at midnight — These days, I swear there were more babies and young children than grown-ups, and the evening had a distict family focus to it. Not a bad thing… Just so different from the old days! Jeremy and I got to meet Lorelei and Darren’s new addition, a beautiful baby girl named Javonna Rose. She looks strikingly like her mommy, and has certainly stolen everyone’s heart. Of course, with all the kids and babies about, there was no shortage of friends giving me pressure to have one of my own. All in due time, I say…
An adventure at Metrotown was on the calendar for Sunday, and shop we did… Corree, Jeremy and I got in some exercise moving from shop to shop looking for the ultimate workout gear. Afterwards, Jer and I had some dinner and watched a rental to end off the busy weekend with some relaxation. It was a wonderful night, and I’m glad we both took some time to truly enjoy each other’s attention.
This week, it’s been all rowing, all the time! I’m having an awesome time with it, and can’t believe our level 2 course is over in a week already. This morning was extraordinary, as Jeremy took time out of his rowing regime to take Corree and I out in a double at 6am. Watching the sun come up over the harbour while two cruise ships quietly entered the perfectly calm water of Coal Harbour almost made me gasp at the beauty of the scene. Now I truly understand why people get up at 5am to row before they start the rest of their day. What a remarkable morning we had out there. Vancouver is truly stunning. I can’t wait to do it again! Thanks Jer for enabling us to get the practice in, as well as see rowing from your perspective at that hour.
I can’t wait to row again tonight!
