Random thoughts from a Cathay Pacific flight:
It’s 4:08pm Pacific Time (or 7:08 EDT) and I’m sitting in the 54th row (exit & bulk head seats) on a direct Cathay Pacific flight to JFK beside Jenn. We boarded the aircraft at 1:15pm PDT, and proceeded to wait another 40 minutes for the takeoff… Which was fine with us as we knew that once we were in the air, there’d be food and all the booze we could possibly consume… That always makes the wait less annoying! The Cantonese announcements were made with a vague and shortened version of the safety features of the aircraft described in English, which disturbed me a tad. Don’t know why I felt that way since I’ve obviously flown a bizillion times before, but somehow, this change of the norm (I’ve never flown with an Asian airline before) urked me a tad. I can’t explain it.
I’m totally excited about the next few days with Jenn in the BIG APPLE. My true excitement started this morning after the initial ridiculous frustration of “too much expected by clients with too little time to deliver” which always happens right before I go away. I can only do so much!! I had to leave by 10:30am this morning, and at that I felt like I didn’t handle everything I needed to before I left. I wish that I’d had more time this morning. But then, I always say that. I really need to settle down in the client demand department. Someone get me a professional.
Thankfully, Jenn has had a bit more time than I have to review the options for our New York adventure, and has a pretty good idea of what she’d like to see while she’s there until Monday. I’ll go by her suggestions because I haven’t had a moment to research the possiblities on my own time. I’m sure we’ll have an incredible time, no matter what we end up doing.
Additionally, it’s nice to be single coming into this weekend’s extravaganza we’re about to embark on… I don’t feel the least bit reined in, not to mention, this gives me the incredible opportunity to hone my flirtation skills which need some work — I’m very rusty! I can’t wait to try out my techniques (don’t ask!!) on the unsuspecting New York males while I’m there. Who am I kidding? LOL! I just read that and thought — You’ve never been good at flirting, what’s going to change in New York to make that different?
Well, I think I’ll take Jenn’s lead and grab a nap while we’re still more than 2 hours out. I wish I hadn’t had all that caffiene before I embarked on this trip now!
Oh ya, and I guess the four glasses of red wine doesn’t help much either
For some reason, red wine wakes me up. Darn.
