All moved in! …The Suburban Chick turns Urban!

This is what I woke up to at 7:30 this morning. …Taken from my bed!

What a life! This makes all the stress of moving worthwhile, I say. I woke up and rubbed my eyes this morning and tried really hard to get my vision to work without my glasses, and when I looked past my feet, this is what I saw. Wow!

The move was a little stressful. Most people were coming straight from work, and couldn’t get to my old place in Burnaby until well after 5:30 — And, I was told by the concierge in my new building that if I didn’t arrive before 7pm, he would not likely be able to let me block off an elevator. Talk about cracking the whip to get there — Try moving enough boxes and furniture to fill a one bedroom apartment, and drive it downtown in 1.5 hours! Insanity. We ended up getting to my new place at 7:30 and I used my best forlorn eyes with the elevator nazi, and he capitulated. Only a few minutes he said… Make it quick. Right! Quick. Ya. :) It actually did go very fast because my brother ended up picking up a friend on his way over, which helped tremendously.

Thank you so much, Vern, Corree, Paul, Todd, Zoe, and Neil — I could not have done that without you… And I know moves are never fun. I will do my best to stay a while at the new place before calling upon your assistance again.

I’ve still not finished unpacking, although it seems like that’s pretty much all I’ve done since Tuesday night. After the realization that all my stuff was definitely not going to fit in the new place, on moving night, I had a bit of a meltdown. Thankfully Vern and Corree were able to snap me out of it for the most part. Never fun to move, that’s all I can say.

Tonight I’m taking Corree out to the Fishhouse at Stanley Park since I never got a chance to take her for dinner the night of the move. I won a $25 gift certificate during the Row For A Cure last weekend, so, that’ll help a bit with the bill. It’ll be a fun night, I’m sure.

I’m currently planning a party with my roommates (one of which hasn’t even moved in yet… He comes in Saturday afternoon — Crap, where’s he gonna put his stuff???) for October 16 — My one roommate has some pretty big ideas, but it’ll be fun to meet some new people anyhow. From the sounds of it, my roommate wants to charge $10 to everyone for the 16th to cover the cost of the 2 kegs they’re bringing in… And apparently there’s a tent being put up outside, and a gambling table and a DJ as well. We have the whole top floor of the building to ourselves this month, as the guy beside us has moved out. Sounds like quite the get-together, doesn’t it? I’m a little concerned, but B’s told me that some of his friends are ex-bouncers, so there won’t be any problems… Okay, I say. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

By the way… if anyone’s tried to email me on either my work or personal accounts recently, I’ve apparently had mail server issues all week, and didn’t get most of the mail. Please resend, if you haven’t already!

    i still kick myself.

my ex used to live near metrotown. i used to go to my company office right near there.

i’m so over burnaby. but i still love downtown.

That’s a sad deal to miss out on Jimbo! Too bad!

And… My place is on the other side of town — Yaletown, only better, I say ;) Coal Harbour is much closer to the things that are important to me — Yaletown would be too far away to walk everywhere.
