I did it… I spent money.
A lot of money. I went out and purchased the first livingroom set that I sat in and liked the feel of. I ended up heading out of work early for a bit, and drove (thanks for the use of your car, Jer!!) down to INspiration on W.6th — And, this is what I bought:
I picked out this couch and chair set — It’s a microfiber fabric, and if you can’t tell from the photo, it’s a warm camel colour.
I think I’ve also picked out the bed that I’m going to buy, but I have to ‘sleep’ on it tonight, and decide in the morning if I can afford to spend $1500 on the mattress that I really like.
I have an hour of work left to do, and then I’m heading home to pick up a couple of wine glasses and a few other odds and ends, and then Vern and I are going to sit on my new livingroom floor and have a glass of wine to celebrate. I wish Jeremy was here to share this excitement with me, but he’ll be home on Friday when all my crap will be pretty much moved in… Lucky him for missing that part, huh?
Gosh those timely work trips suck…
I jest, of course — I really miss him a ton.

Precisely my rationale for these past few years. That, and I had roommates, (or a husband for that matter) who had furniture, and I didn’t need to shell out.
But, like Jason said, I’m a big girl now. Time to change the priorities in my book. Besides, it’s really darn comfortable.
Congrats, you’re all growed up!
About the mattress? Yes. You can afford it. More to the point, you can’t afford NOT to. Buy the best mattress you can find… it’ll be so worth it in night after night of comfortable sleep. In fact I would go so far as to call a good mattress the #1 marital/relationship aid.
COOL, nice. Looks like you shelled out a lot of “loonies” for that set! It is nice to start off with new stuff
hummmmm…
You’re not going to be one of those people who checks everyone before they sit down it or throws plastic on top of it, are you?
Congrats…
SPAM=yuck, grodie…..
Yea, Tom, new furniture is great. I haven’t bought new furniture in many years now…
Sue, you’re right, of course. I bought the bed this morning, and it’s being delivered tomorrow!! YAY for new, very pricey, beds!
Thats a great looking set. For some reason, we always seem to get “hand-me-down” couches from friends who have better taste than us…
I just can’t shell out the money for new furniture… not when there are so many techie devices still to buy!
.. congrats.. and I loved the “warm camel color”.. it made me wonder what color a “cold camel” would be!
LOL, Eric! Too funny…
