Fun was had by all…
Thanks to everyone who came and warmed my house on Friday night! It was a fantastic turnout, and everyone seemed to have a good time. There were definitely some delightful and memorable moments in the evening, and some were captured by my camera. Yes, the photos will be up tomorrow when I get into the office — I mistakenly left the wire there last week. By the time we got to bed at 3am or so, Jeremy and I were both completely exhausted.
The last of the remnants of the party were washed away this morning, when I got on my hands and knees and cleaned the carpet of spillage. It actually came up quite easily, and ‘Spot Shot’ is my friend!
On a different note, I’m just watching Global Sunday, and their topic this week is the face of new media, and they are particularily focusing on how blogs are affecting the way conventional media is viewed. Their argument is simply that blogs and other new media such as podcasting are fragmenting and making obsolete our standard media formats. I disagree. I think blogs and other content such as this site (user-generated content) augment, not destroy conventional media. Sites like this generate interest in discussing society, hobbies, and everything else under the sun, and if anything, new media serves to meet new needs for entertainment and knowledge.
What do you think? Will blogs and other forms of new media spell the end of conventional media such as news casts and newspapers?

thanks again for having me over
it was so great to see after so long!
and no, i think conventional media still has its place in society…at least in my life. i prefer to hold a newspaper, a real book with turning pages than just rely solely on blogs.
Party was a fantastic start to an amazing weekend!! Huuuraayy for Tanya and her parties!
Blogs for news gathering… gawd I hope not. Most people who write on blogs have no idea of the greater picture…. and tend to weigh in on opinion only.
I expect that there will be a voting system to pick out proper news blogs eventually… and that again will re-balance back to journalists.
Hey Tanya, it was great to see you friday night ( sorry for crashing the party)
You have a great place there. See you soon!

Come on.. i want to see how silly we all looked! Er, how silly I looked. Everyone else looked fine.
Ya ya yaaaa. I know. Me bad. It’s been a HECTIC week of WORK WORK WORK. No time for me. I’ll hopefully upload tomorrow during lunch. I’ve seen them and they’re halarious.
In fact, Col and I (I had a moment to transfer with Col at a coffee shop the other night) couldn’t help but laugh at some of the ones with you in them! Some are pretty animated!!
I saw the same show on Sunday.
I don’t think that conventional media will be destroyed… but I can’t help but wonder if blogs and the like may, possibly, taint story content, especially if a news story took some of the ‘facts’ from a blog (or other ‘new media’ resource).
So many people believe what is written must be true; perhaps it is possible that new media will skew the truth to leverage the author’s viewpoint.
After all, a blog is a forum in which we can express our feelings and viewpoints, right? (see my blog from today and you’ll see what I mean).
PS
Must see your new place… in the fall perhaps. Miss Vancouver.
