Webcam goodness!
I live in one hell of a beautiful city…

You might have noticed my new webcam (well, it’s not mine, actually) on the right bar of this page. After seeing an image on Paul’s blog, I went to investigate the origin, and found a cool webcam from KatKam.ca — Not your standard webcam, but rather an Olympus camera at fairly decent resolutions. The result is an incredible live view of False Creek or English Bay, depending on where the camera has been pointed.
I have decided, after much deliberation, that I will re-institute my old onlinechick cam, with a fresh and up-to-date feel for my current persona, NetChick. Besides, now that I live on my own, there’s no need to worry about infringing on someone else’s rights (namely the ex-husband) to privacy (even though it was previously located in *my* office.) I still chuckle at a few of the shots Anders captured oh so long ago when said ex-husband forgot that I had my camera on 24×7 very early one morning. I find myself wondering if he still has those captures, actually… But I digress. Now that I won’t be dragging my laptop into work each morning, I will have the opportunity to stream live from home once I get it set up.
That is, when I have some free time.

Wow….. the “chick cam” has got quite a history? That would be really cool if you got one going! Now that they are oh…. so…. cheeeeep, I’m surprized that they are seemingly loosing their popularity.
I was going to get one going on my website, but finding one with a long enough cord would be the trick: of course it would need to be outside! he he he.
::MY WEBCAM STORY::
Way back when I was true newbie, I had an old sonycam that captured sound also and I pointed it out from my livingroom window at the river. I forgot one day that I left it on while I was at work (really, it was on all the time). I came back and someone had stolen my BBQ from off of my sundeck. A week after that, I was checking my archives, I never bothered to check it in the first place, low and beholed: there was the theif caught red handed on my WebCam! It was the guy nextdoor! I Emailed him the photo and he threaten to sue me….. Funny, I’m still waiting to this day for a Ritt of Summons from him and hey, the BBQ was found: in the bushes about a block away….the next day!
No SPAM for me, thanks…
I’ve had a link to katkam since I first put up my site; their shots are pretty much my view.
Okay, my view if this building were several stories higher.
I linked them so my mom could see where I was and maybe feel I wasn’t so far away. They’ve done such a good job of keeping that camera online steady for quite a while now.
That is a nice view for sure…that’s the kind of shot that makes me miss Vancouver.
