Phew!
I put my foot down tonight and, despite my pending deadlines, went rowing. As I’d been at the office late last night due to firewall upgrades, I actually left the office at about 4:20 this afternoon which was a nice change… Only to go home and get on my hands and knees and scrub the carpet until my fingers were raw.
You see, last Thursday, in my sleepless daze I dumped a full cup of hot, dark coffee all over my white carpet in the middle of the living room floor. Of course, no amount of Spot Shot would get the mess out. Last night I tried a steam cleaner that Vern’s sister had brought over for Vern’s clean up at his old place, but that didn’t really work either.
Neither did my scrubbing with “Woollite Carpet Cleaner” that Vern gave to me to try today.
So, off I took my raw hands to the club to find that everyone, as usual, already had a crew lined up to row with. It’s my own fault, because I haven’t been rowing in a week and a half… Kinda hard to put a crew together when you aren’t there.
Instead, I jumped into a mixed double with a guy who has been in Montreal for about 7 months — He’s back with his partner to BC, and has re-joined the Open program. As he didn’t have anyone to row with either, and recognized me from a brief meeting just before he left for Quebec, he suggested that since only doubles were left that we row together.
Interesting row. I haven’t been in a double since Corree and I were out in one last September… And, I’ve never rowed with a guy, let alone someone I actually had to shorten my slide to accomodate a height difference. I’m *always* in a shell with people taller than me. It was weird. On top of that, I haven’t had much opportunity to ‘stroke’ either, so my timing was pretty bad. All I kept on hearing was “Slow down — Slow your slide!” It was an eye opener, anyhow.
And now, I’m back at work after I quickly ran home to change out of my sweaty clothes. I have a long night of work ahead of me, so I’d better get on to it.

Well, plenty of updating since last weekend.
You only found Katcam now?!?!? Man, they’ve had that for years.
*sigh* sure looks purdy.
oxyclean, diluted with water. regular strength. I have yet to find a stain that withstands oxyclean (blood, red wine, coffee, etc), and with only a single dab and a quick rub.
Thanks Spanky! I was thinking of trying that one next… Since you’ve had such good success with it, I’ll go out after work tonight and grab some.
If oxyclean doesn’t do it and you want to try a professional, I can recommend Citruso (www.citruso.com). They get your carpet very clean, use natural products and leave your house smelilng ilke oranges!
I’ve had our carpets done a few times and certain old stains disappear after a cleaning only to come back later. The sooner you get it out, the better.
I meant to say, I’ve had our carpets done by a couple of different COMPANIES and there is only so much they can do. It seems some stains just won’t come out if they’re really set in.
Great idea, Michelle! I’m so done with cleaning that mess by hand without success. Time to bring in a professional. I’ll give them a call. Thanks!
