British Columbians… Did you vote??

Y’know, I wasn’t going to vote. Then I got to thinking about all those people who have died to be in the position I am in today — Living in a place where I can freely enter a polling location without persecution, and be a part of the democratic process. So, I did.

Having said that, I *almost* wasted my vote on either the “Sex Party” or the “Work Less Party”, but then sanity prevailed, and I voted for a party that I think can continue to make BC an economic “have” province…

Why wasn’t I going to vote today? Because, honestly, I don’t believe any major party is terribly different than the other. I do remember the NDP years, and the ongoing horrendous mis-use of government authority that occurred — But, I also believe that the Liberals have done some horrific cuts where they could have become more fiscally responsible to avoid them. In the end, I voted for the lesser of two evils in my mind. I still think that’s sad.

But then, that’s politics. There’s only one politician (who used to be a member of a party that I wouldn’t vote for) who I believe is really out there for his constituents: Chuck Cadman (IND / Surrey N.). I wish he were in provincial politics. I have so much respect for that man.

Well, I did the vote. And yes, I think Chuck Cadman is going to make history this week on the hill! With the crossing of Ba-linda (spelling???) Stronik (sp???) to the Liberal’s side, the budget vote is going to be 50/50, leaving it up to the speaker to break the tie-vote. Cadman will be the tie breaker! What a week in politics.

Now, I wonder what BC is going to look like tomorrow? I hope it is good… :/

I would laugh if Campbell got caught drinking and driving again after the party tonight! That is how evil I think about him right now…. gerrrrrrrrrr.

Belinda Stronach is the epitome of why I think politics in Canada needs to be reformed. She sold out herself and her constituents to the highest bidder… Simply to get a higher paycheck, and more control.

    SHEESH.

  • Java says:

Naw… Belinda will be Canada’s Prime Minister in a few terms. She’s not really a conservative… she only thought she was.

The whole Chuck thing is so obvious that I would be bored if it plays out how it is expected to. Might be a surprise in there yet.

I wonder if he has an axe to grind.

    I leave you with a Churchill’s quote:

“Democracy is the worst form of government, except all others”

    Hi!
I’m really excited to read that you voted. I have never voted because I come from a country where politics is corrupt and does not benefit the people. WHile, I’m a few years away from being able to vote here, I really believe politics here matter b/c despite all current political maneuvering, elected officials work for Canada & the people.
I really believe they uphold everything Canada stands for and I can’t wait to join the democratic process.
Okay, maybe naive person speaking, but I know things matter here.

Lorne Mayencourt called. He said you promised to vote for him. Now he’s pissed.

  • NetChick says:

Err, sadly, that’s who I did vote for.
