Message from the sickie

So we were at St. Paul’s again tonight to follow up on Friday’s joyousness. The verdict is: nothing appears to be broken. There’s still some significant swelling of the hands and knee, but the CT scan showed no abnormalities. Typing remains a challenge for Tanya (more so than normal, I mean ;-) ) though so please be patient if you email her.

The codicil to all this is that there’s no real way to tell if there’s any sort of ligament or tendon damage short of an MRI. There are no clear indications, but the swelling needs to go down some more first before the medicos can be sure. So far, it all seems good though, and we’re both hoping it stays that way. As an aside, I wanted to offer some small ray of hope that maybe all is NOT lost in our medical system. Tan’s CTscan appointment tonight was for 6:10 PM. We got there at 5:45, she went in at 5:50, and she was out before 6. Then, we had to go down to Emergency to get the pictures interpreted (or some such garbage). We were told that we’d be waiting about 2 hours down there. However when Tanya explained that there had been a snafu regarding her case, the staff went to lengths to straighten it all out.

In total, we were in St. Paul’s for less than 2 hours tonight, including the time going through triage, admitting, and the whole shebang. Not too shabby, in my book. That’s all for now, I guess. More as it happens
