Adventure of a lifetime

We watched “Motorcycle Diaries” tonight, and thoroughly enjoyed it. (Even though I coughed through most of it)

Set in 1952, the plot contains the adventures of two friends — one 23, the other almost 30, being schooled as medical professionals specializing in leprosy, who decide to go on an 8000 km trip for four months: They travel across Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Peru, at least partly by motorcycle, and in the end both grow beyond their expectations. It’s really sweet tale, with an overall message of being flexible about your dreams, while living a life of adventure.

I can see why it did so well, and played so long, in the theatres. This movie is well worth the rental.

I know you are a “biker chick” so you might enjoy a movie made back in the 70′s called “On Any Sunday”. Great movie for those of us who LOVE motorcycles. It’s kind of hard to find in most rental stores but it’s worth the hunt.
By the way, after reading you for the past several weeks you have inspired me to start my own blog instead of the old pen and paper method. Thanks I think!

Hey, Russ… Forgot to mention! Congrats on your new blog! Lookin’ good! I’ll add you to my blogroll as soon as I’m feeling better. Have fun with it!! I’ve been blogging since 1996 (really!) so if you need any advice, you know where to come!

I appreciate hearing your take on that movie. I kept swinging back and forth on going while it was in theatres. I’ll look for it at the rental place.

Love your spammer verification method. Does it cut spam a little or a lot?

Have you heard that the ancient Inca village visited in the film, Machu Picchu, is surrounded by fire right now, and may possibly be destroyed? How sad. Maybe one day I’ll do a trip like that!

Welcome, Pearl! I think you’ll really enjoy the movie, but remember that it is subtitled.

The comment verification system is simple, but it’s very effective! I change it up once in a while, if there’s a particular spammer that has automated my process, but otherwise I get no spam on my site using this method, as well as some blocks on keywords, usernames, and known spamming IPs. It didn’t take much effort, but I went from about 60 spammed comments a day to none. (Other than the very occasional spammer that I mentioned above).

  • when are you going to retrace their trip?

  • Jason says:

Can I come? I was moved by the film, and wanted to catch the next flight after I saw it. Of course, the trip would only make sense with your accursed beast along. What else would cause the kind of grief experienced by Che?
