Blog = Snippets of life
During a recent conversation with MJ on blogging, we discussed how blog entries can be taken out of context, and how I wished people weren’t so worried about writing and editing, and re-editing their blog entries, essentially filtering out any human emotion they may be having at the moment, thus avoiding any potential mis-understanding a reader may have about the blogger as a whole.
I was reading MJ’s post on the subject, and noticed that he’d punctuated the subject matter with this funny article. Enjoy!

That is a funny article. Although for me typing away in my blog seems to be very therapeutic and of course, helps out in my communication skills department: like English assignments and essay writing. If there is one thing I have learned about the net is, everyone seems to have an opinion: whether it is a positive or negative one. Blog depression is all part of the territory, the cure is how much you put into it. I believe the delete button the best antidepressant there is. Whenever I used my delete button, my machine makes an explosion sound, very useful for those people who comment me with garbage. But remember, I’m nice…. right….
I rarely edit, except to maybe add a little clarification. What annoys me is that people take blog entries as canon. What the hell? They’re off the cuff ramblings, I might not be making my point ultra-clearly, so try giving me the benefit of the doubt before taking what I’m writing the wrong way and thinking I’m a wailing bansidhe. Hmph.
btw, didn’t make it to the flying swan last night — didn’t get home from work until nearly 8, decided I was too annoyed and tired to leave my chair…. did you go? was it fun?
I hear ya!
Yes, I did go last night! Kept peering at the door expecting to see you coming in! I had a great time! The women all made me feel really welcome, and went out of their way to say hello. That was nice… I was surprised that more guys didn’t attend after 8 — I guess they didn’t realize they were invited.
I would’ve dropped by, but my stomach felt like it wanted to drop out. Oh well.
I would have loved to have gone as well, but sadly I’m still fighting a cold.
I curled up on the couch with a bowl of chicken soup and a movie.
Hey, you guys were missed! I guess BCSB is going to slow down now for all those people taking their bikes off the road in the next few weeks.. That sucks! Just when I get my license. Oh well.
Hey Tom… I need to get that explosion sound! hehe. But, to be honest, I don’t delete anything on this site, except for perhaps a whole two blog entries in the past three or so years on this URL.
I like this perspective, and I need to keep it in mind more often. When I write at work, I’m as manic as can be about polishing every word. But when I blog, I need to stop being so retentive. Sometimes, you just have to fling the words out there and see what happens to ‘em.
Thanks to you and MJ for putting it in its proper context.
