Tu parle Québécois?
Hey all…
I’ve got a really quick job for someone who can translate from English to Canadian French. The only thing is, I need a really fast turn-around. It’s about one page of English that needs to be translated, and I don’t trust Babelfish or other similar programs. I would like real conversational Québécois.
Des preneurs? Merci!

Hi, Netchick
My son is fluent in both spoken and written Quebecois. And I am quite sure he can do it. But I need to ask him first. Would you like me to ask him?
oui, peut-être. Je veux plus d’information sur ton besoin.
Hi guys!
Thank you very much for all the quick responses! I found someone to take care of this for me.
Cheers!
Mercy Buckets.
What a challenge!! What the difference between canadian french and regular french?
Slang!
The term “Comment ca va?” (How goes it) is a Quebecois expression. Even twenty years ago, Francophones from outside Canada would have difficulties understanding this phrase.
On the other hand, we have problems understanding some of the French expressions as well. My friend Laurent from France always starts his exclamations with “Quoi” (What). As in “Quoi, ce chien travaille bien.” (What, this dog works well.). When I first met him, I was confused as to why he always asked me questions on a statement. Initially, I would try to be polite and answer by saying something like, “Maybe because the dog is three times titled….”. And he would say, “I know, I gave him the titles.”. And I would say to myself, “Why are you asking me then…..”. It’s later on that I figured it out when husband and wife started to ask each other questions this way without ever answering back.
