Desperately seeking my “Me” time

I’ve misplaced it somewhere. Has anyone seen it?

My heartfelt and sincere apologies go out to all my dear friends who’ve not heard from me in weeks. I promise, this busy time for me will die down soon (I hope), and I’ll be able to pick up the phone like I keep promising, and actually call you.

After an enjoyable drink with a client last night, I had a quick talk with M before bed. However, by the time we got home, we were both so tired, and I know my “I really need to just not interact with anyone” remark came out all wrong, as I flicked on the tv and crawled into bed… Although M understood what I meant, I know it initially hit him as a little callus. I did feel bad about the way it came out.

What can I say… I really need to have a night early next week where I can do the “me” stuff that I haven’t had any time for in weeks. At this point, even cleaning my house is “me” stuff. Sad, I know. I even took last weekend completely off from work, and it was a lovely weekend — Well, except for the being-sick-one-day part — But, nope, still no “Me” time anywhere.

So, if anyone’s seen that “Me Time” scurrying about… Please tell it that I’m due for a visit. Soon. I’ll definitely be a more cheerful and balanced person when I find it.

And, I won’t have darkish blonde roots anymore, either.

Yup. I’m right there with you. When I don’t have ‘me’ time I become a surlier, grouchier girl than usual.

I’ve discovered that sometimes the only way to get ‘me’ time is to also include a little planned neglect into my day. Interestingly, I don’t feel guilty about saying no to something if I’ve planned to say no in advance. And I’m getting better at saying No. Full stop. Sans explanation or apology.

tell ya what, if you see my ‘me time’, let me know and I’ll do the same.

I ran into the same issue the other night with Q. I’m also one of those people that just need ‘me’ time on a regular basis. I was unpacking my kitchen last night in the new place and it gave me so much pleasure to be there alone in the space, putting my cans of tuna on the shelf.

coffee soon? i can make ya a mean americano and then we can sit and ignore one another for 20 minutes. :)

Wow. When housework constitutes “me time” things are seriously awry, Tan. I hope you’re able to have more time to yourself soon. I’m sure that’ll work out better for “M” also in the long run.

Hope you’ve found that me time. It’s hard to be at oru best for any of the other stuff when we’ve lost the time to focus on ourselves. Here via Michele today.
