Balance

Today has been quite a stressful day at the office… Which I won’t detail here. But, where there’s an element of ‘crappy’, there’s almost always an element of ‘joy’.
My element of joy is Michael. I’m absolutely the luckiest girl in the world to have a boyfriend as sweet as he is. [/gush]
I’d completely [...]

For the men in my life (Since I missed ‘Friday Silliness’!)

The International Rules of Manhood

Under no circumstances may two men share an umbrella.

It is OK for a man to cry ONLY under the following circumstances:

(a) When a heroic dog dies to save its master.
(b) The moment Angelina Jolie starts unbuttoning her blouse.
(c) After wrecking your boss’s car.
(d) One hour, 12 minutes, 37 seconds into “The [...]

When you are feeling irritable…

…What do you do?
Me? I’m grabbing a beer (err, maybe 2 or 3), sitting my ass on the couch, and cranking some tunes for a while.
After that, I shall plan a “Girl’s Night Out” for a few weeks from now so that I have some cut-loose time to look forward to! Who’s in? [...]

Another long weekend, woohoo!

My long weekend will include:

Having a relaxing night with my man (I’ve become an EA widow lately)
Seeing “DaVinci Code” (Yes, I know it’s not supposed to be good, but I loved the book, and have to see it anyhow)
Celebrating a birthday
Putting up the remaining clothes from the set sale on eBay
Spending some of the $800 [...]

Happy Birthday Diane!! (And, how not to use an auto-attendant system)

In honour of my sis-in-law Diane’s birthday, I decided to pull up a sound file from a year or so ago… It’s the birthday girl navigating our speech recognition system at work. Well, *trying* to.
By the way, yelling at the speech recognition system doesn’t make it work any better Goofball!
So, enjoy this [...]

Argh!

Some people should seriously reconsider *ever* giving a presentation. I was trying so hard to stay awake, and actively listen, but this presenter had a strong accent, and a droning voice… And had to go through every detail of his software solution.
What is even worse, is that this is the second time I’ve had [...]

Point form round-up from my long weekend:

I’m doing a quick lunch-time blog post, as I’ve had a really busy workday so far troubleshooting stuff instead of getting to my to-do list…
Here’s some random thoughts from this past weekend:
Set-sale auctions are an incredible way to get great deals! Vern, Michael, Danielle and I scored on Saturday morning/early afternoon when [...]

How can I not have a relaxing evening…

…When I’m overlooking this amazing scene! It’s been a gorgeous day in Vancouver!

Well.

I should have just sold the tickets.
I would have had more fun.
Hell. An extra 2 bills in my pocket would have trumped anything after that venue, and that night. The vibe was just screwed, and well… I’ll just leave it at that.
I will say thank you to Vern, though. He, once again, [...]

Memory (err, nightmare?) lane

I was over at Adena’s ‘Lunatic Rambilings’ site today at lunch (yep, I had a very late lunch today due to some emergency computer issues in the office) and read her post on what her daughter did to her son recently. It’s a funny story — You should go and read it.
It got me [...]

It’s FRIDAY!!!

And, a Looooooong Weekend for me! (See, notice how I capitalized that?)
Before I head to work, I thought I’d leave you all with a Jack Handy quote to start your Friday smilin’!
“I bet when neanderthal kids would make a snowman, someone would always end up saying, ‘Don’t forget the thick, heavy brows.’ Then they [...]

Decorator’s worst nightmare!

Oooh, oooh!! My birthday is coming up, and I want this chair for *our* livingroom! …Don’t worry, I’m not serious! What on earth was the designer of this chair thinking, and who on earth would buy it?
Oh. God. My birthday is coming up in less than a month. Why, oh, [...]

Late for work, hope the day gets better from here!

This morning, I was 20 minutes late getting into the office. I woke up, just as the clock was showing 9 am — The alarm must have been reset from 7:15.
I hate getting a late start to my day! I’m usually the first person in the office most mornings, as it affords me [...]

An Open Letter:

Dear guy standing in front of me in line at Artigianos on Pender this morning:
Please, for heavens sake, stop chewing your gum with your mouth open. Not only is that truly disgusting, but that sound that you felt that you had to make constantly to go along with your annoying habit was truly aggrevating. [...]

Random observations:

The movie “Millions” (by the same director who did “Trainspotting”) is very good… Excellent cinematography, good character development, and a fun story. Quite watchable until the last 10 minutes, anyhow. I’m glad we found it on Movie Central last night.
The movies “The Ice Harvest” and “Family Stone” truly SUCK. Avoid these pieces [...]

Mmmm, rendering… My Seinfeld blog entry

These days, I’ve become more and more annoyed with the amount of time it takes to render edited movie clips in Adobe Premiere. I’m not using the latest version, so maybe that’s the problem — But, I looked at the hardware requirements for Adobe Premiere Pro 2 (why did they name it 2, anyhow, [...]

Who’s got a good joke?

Friends were over the other night for some wine and appies, and we got to telling jokes. Or, more realistically, everyone but me had several jokes to tell. I could think of only one lame Surrey girl joke, and another lightbulb joke I had heard recently at a party, but I got Michael [...]

It’s the little things…

When was the last time you looked around you, and noticed how amazing your life is, based on “the little things”?
Today, while walking to get my morning coffee, I gave extra attention to the people and things around me… The cherry blossoms blowing across the windy yet sun-drenched street, my fellow pedestrians who all seemed [...]
