Cha cha cha changes…

Phew, freaky week. A ton has happened at work, but since I don’t detail my corporate life here, I’ll only say that I’m very much looking forward to some positive momentum over the upcoming weeks, which is much needed.

On a personal note… This weekend couldn’t have come any sooner. I so need some happy times without the work stress seeping into every part of my after-hours time. Sleep has been intermittent at best, such as last night, where at 3am, I ended up watching “Guess Who?” on one of the movie channels while my Sweetheart tried his best to sleep beside me. I will say, I did suggest several times that I could go to the livingroom to watch it, but he assured me that he’d rather have me in bed watching tv beside him, than have me move to another room.

We do have an awesome weekend planned! Tonight, we’re fitting in both a “Welcome-Home-Type-Party” for shnewt and Rachel, as well as possibly catching up with Lara and gang at Celebrities to woop it up, gay-bar-style later on. Saturday evening, a bunch of us are off to have some drinks on a sunset cruise, before heading for a nice dinner out on the town. And, Sunday, I’m hoping to finally have a nice long walk with M, and show him Lost Lagoon… It’s completely ridiculous that he hasn’t seen this part of Stanley Park since he’s lived in Vancouver for 3 years! Time to change that!

What’s everyone else looking forward to this weekend? Whatever it is, I hope it’s awesome!

I’ll try to call you before then!

Everyone else — Sounds like beach action is where it’s at! Hope to see you tonight Lara! :)

loading up the bike with my spiffy new tent and going camping by some water somewhere in the bush. then i’m going to sip scotch by the water and the fire and contemplate possibly taking the rest of the summer off by being unemployed(voluntarily – I’ve had it with my employer at the moment).

Sleep. lots of sleep. preferably on a beach.

    Hey!

I haven’t checked your blog in a while! Well, I hosted my 1st ever BBQ – won a BBQ a month & half ago so I decided July would be the best time to have people over for a BBQ. My friends from the MBA came and some very close friends of the boyfriend came too.

Incidentally, I’ve been meaning to ask you, hope you get to read this, why you never replied to my email back in April (! yes, late, but I was shy asking at first) Do you remember? You asked to be reminded of our upcoming ‘info meeting’ and I did but I never heard back. So I am puzzled. Did my email get sent to junk folder? Again?!
Please respond to my email – don;t know when I’ll get a chance to visit your blog again as I’m doing my internship & that keeps me very busy.

Sounds like the beach is a common theme! I hope everyone enjoyed their outdoor experiences!

Dixie — I did respond to your email in April (I think it was April?) saying that my workload was extreme (and still is) and that I probably wouldn’t have time for several weeks to catch up with you. That’s unfortunate that you didn’t receive it. At this point, I would suggest that I wouldn’t be the right person to offer an info-session, as my workload is overwhelming. I’m currently juggling several positions rather than one, and it’s stretching me too thin. Sorry about that.

I got no sleep…. but it did involve a beach…. and a hell of a lot of loud music and happy people

  • Al! says:

I may be back by then. i’m thinking of taking Monday off and staying out til then

  • Dixie says:

    Hi!

In a moment of free time & curiosity, I decided to check back and I am very glad and relieved to read your answer. Thanks for your honesty b/c now that I’m doing my internship and after much introspection of where I want to go/be, I know that, despite you being in marketing, you would be the wrong person to ask for career advice as I am not interested in pursuing your same field/industry.
I was more curious to find out why I never heard back from you than in re-scheduling -sorry you misinterpreted.
(as an aside, I am very considerate when asking info interviews, and would not want to waste the person’s time, or mine for that matter).

So this all works out for the best :)
Have a great rest of summer/Cheers,,

We’re going to try to get the little people out to the beach. They’ve been clamoring for it, so it’s time we scratch the itch, so to speak.

Your weekend sounds like a wonderful antidote to the corporate disease. Wish I could send you some vibes to calm the work stuff down. That feeling – where it starts to take over the rest of your life – is a lousy one. May that elusive sense of balance return to your work-life world soon.

  • As it’s my last weekend before starting a new job, I think I’m going to cram as much “nothing” as I possibly can into the next 48 hours. A real down-time sort of weekend.

    …now where’s my off switch.

hey. i think we have your buisnesescard holder.
    :-)

why yes. i am drunk. why do you ask?
