‘Friday Silliness, part 842′ and ‘People sometimes piss me off’
Friday Silliness has hit a new all-time low! Click and see what I mean! (Thanks Al — You always come through!)
Well, I had hoped to have my phone set-up, and photos from the day-in-the-life blog entry taken by today, but alas, I’ve had another crazy week at work. Thankfully, things seem to be settling down (although I hesitate to say that, because I’m going to jinx my next damn week by doing so) here at the office, but I still have a long way to go to get on top of it all.
Last night someone *really* pissed me off, to the point that I was anger-shaking. This guy was picking up a mattress he bought from us, we nicely stored for him, and he’d arranged to pick-up last night at 6. We had even said that if he takes delivery within 30 days, we’d pay for delivery. He was moving last night, anyhow, so we suggested his movers come by, and we’d just give him $75 cash to cover the delivery. He agreed to be there by 6.
At 4:45, M leaves work early to accomodate this guy (who also works in the same place), and while he’s on the train home, gets a call from him saying he can’t make it until 7pm. M says he has plans, but, he’ll be late if the guy can be there by 7. M then calls me to tell me that he won’t be able to make it to our photography class with me until later (keeping in mind, this is my birthday present) because this guy will be late. I’m pissed. I got this guy’s number from M, and tell him absolutely not. We’ve stored the damn bed for a month, offered to pay for the delivery, and now he wants to put us out like that? Oh, and where was this guy when I called at 5:45pm? Still at work!
To make a long story short, he calls back again, trying to get us to stay around ’til it suits him to drop by (he was 3 hours late when he first came to look at the mattress!)… I finally get fed up with him, and hand the phone to M — Who is far too nice, and tries to reason with him for another 15 minutes.
What an ass! All this over $75? And, after having us store the damn bed for a *month*? Pick up your own damn bed, I say. And, if it’s not out of our place in a few days, I’ll be giving it away to someone who’ll actually move it.
I know M will hate that I even blogged about this, but hell, it pissed me off… And, I find it very cathartic to talk about things that anger me to this degree. In my eyes, this guy is the epitome of disrespect, and I *will not* enable someone to walk all over me like that.
Okay, I’m done now. [/rant] I hope everyone has an incredible Friday!! What are you looking forward to, this weekend?

1. really? you paid for delivery? that makes no sense.
2. you’re taking a photo class? do tell.
Trying (and praying) to turn my baby as he is breach right now…. or I am looking at having to have him turned, and then a c-section if that does not work
Damn him! Thanks to him I got incredibly pissed while waiting for him to show up to even LOOK at the bed which in turn necessitated me sleeping in your bed before you guys ever did…loser! M should sic the EA coolness cops on him.
Freaking funny friday link. I rather enjoyed that. Thanks
uh.. you OFFERED to PAY for DELIVERY?! what world do you live in?? in my land, nothing is offered, and everything is expensive, and no one stores anything for free for any length of time.
that guy was out of line. i definitely think its disrespectful of one to not appreciate that (your) kind of generosity. shame on him!!
Okay, I know I shouldn’t have offered to pay for delivery, after I was nice enough to store the stupid thing while he figured out where he was moving. Lesson learned!
But, thankfully the jerk picked up the mattress on Saturday morning. I already had another buyer for it! I would have just happily given him back his cash minus a storage fee if he hadn’t been fast enough. Phew. That was very frustrating!
Photography class was my birthday present from my Sweetie: It’s a community centre class, with a teacher who learned her stuff from Emily Carr… A bit of a nervous teacher, but I am learning something during each of the 2 classes so far. Two more to go before I’m an expert (haha).
Kiwi: Hope everything went well with the baby this weekend, and the breech was dealt with. I know it’ll all work out! (We *really* need to get together soon!)
