Friday Silliness!!!
From MSNBC:
$14,000 spent on rented rotary phone
CANTON, Ohio – A widow rented a rotary dial telephone for 42 years, paying what her family calculates as more than $14,000 for a now-outdated phone.
Okay… So I gotta ask… Why the heck didn’t this 82 year-old’s grandchildren look at her bills before now? And, was this lady blind? This is indeed very silly!!
Hope you all have a fab weekend planned! What are you looking forward to? Me? REST! And, a possible quick road trip to Kelowna to take in a wine tour with friends! …Talk about last minute planning!

Yeah, my stepmom rented a phone back in the 70s/80s for over 10 years. She’s rather stubborn, though, and when I told her at a tender age that that was really silly and expensive, she didn’t listen to me.
What’s kinda sad is that the phone companies managed to rip off so many people with the phone rentals. Why couldn’t it have been rent-to-own?
Enjoy the wine tour!
I am looking forward to catching up on some quality time with my sweetie.
Gill: Yep, some stepmoms can be silly!
I can’t believe, quite honestly, what the phone co.s get away with — It’s insane!
Rog: We may, or may not, go. It’s all very last minute. I guess I’ll find out tonight while we’re all playing pool at SoHo! You guys should join us tonight!
It took me almost 8 years to finally convince my parents to stop renting a phone from AT&T when they deregulated the company. Before that, of course, there was no choice. You had to get the phone from them. A lot of older folk, and some younger ones too, didn’t want to buy their own phones. Weird.
