What? It's Thursday?
Okay, apparently it’s almost Friday, and I really don’t know where the week went. It’s just been crazy-busy at work, and with my Sweetheart away visiting friends in Seattle for the last few days, I’ve been keeping busy with Tanya stuff.
Last night, for instance, Vern and I went out to see “The Illusionist ” which was a sweet, well-acted, but with a completely see-through plot twist which I had figured out in the first 15 or so minutes. That said, it was a film worth seeing on the big screen for the cinematography (I felt like I was viewing it in a 1930s cinema), the beautiful period costumes, and the overall experience of the film.  I enjoyed my time watching it, and I’m sure it wouldn’t be the same watching it at home — Even if it was on my 42″. Afterward, we headed for the Keg for some nachos and beer, as what’s a movie experience without the after-film over-indulgences, right? Well, if you are looking for over-indulging in nachos, don’t get the Keg’s regular plate of them! Holy small portion, batman! And, I’m not a big eater.
Thankfully, we weren’t hungry, as the pint of beer each seemed to fill in the gaps. We had a nice long talk about subjects beyond work (that was nice), and both ended the evening with smiles on our faces.
I’m dog-tired today, but planning on an early night to make up for a poor sleep two nights in a row. Hopefully, I’ll sleep well tonight, and be well-rested for the weekend coming up!
Hope everyone else has had a good week so far! Has anyone seen any good movies lately? I’d like to go to one this weekend with Michael if there’s time, but I don’t see much in the theatres that seem to jump out at me…

I haven’t seen any movies recently, but I am enjoying the tv show without a trace!
Half Nelson and Little Miss Sunshine are both excellent, though the former is quite demanding of the viewer.
last kiss was fab.
Not in the theatre, we rarely go cause of the outlandish cost, but on DVD last weekend we rented Lucky Number Slevin, a most intriguing and enjoyable movie. Tanya, not sure if MJ showed you the pictures of Quentin, I did not hear back from him, but you can view them here if you like http://kiwicanuck.ca/gallery/shared/baby1/1stweek/
I agree, “Little Miss Sunshine” was excellent. I’m about to go and see “Evewrything’s Gone Green” at Granville 7 for the Vancouver International Film Festival. I’ll let you know how it was tomorrow…
Yours and USA’s movies are usually released several months before we get them so its quite difficult to think of something that hasn’t already been out for months on your side of the pond.
But I just watched Wong Kar Wei’s “In the mood for love” which was free in The (London) Times last weekend and its actually a pretty good art house type movie. Set in Hong Kong in 1962, about a man and woman who think their respective spouses are two timing them. Kind of Chinese Woody Allen. Soundtrack is Cantonese, however, so the subtitles come in useful.

We’re still waiting for Little Miss Sunshine to come out here in Australia which I am eagerly awaiting. It received like 92% on Rotten Tomatoes!
On a side note, I’ve had this piece of music on my hard drive for I don’t know how long. A beautiful piece called Yumeji’s Theme. I’ve been listening to it without really knowing where it was from. I finally googled it last week and it is the soundtrack to “In the mood for love” which was just reviewed by rashbre. I had never heard of it before and being Cantonese, I probably never would (though the trailer looks intriguing). But what a coincidence that an obscure indie movie from China is discussed on your site only a week after finding out that I’ve been listening to it’s soundtrack.
Ok. Maybe I should lay off the crack.
