Thanksgiving Weekend arrives… (At least for us Canadians)

I find the timing rather interesting, quite frankly.  Is there a hidden message in it all?

In a few short hours, I’ll be unemployed for the first time in my life.  And, I’m doing just fine… I’ve got a ton of opportunities to look forward to, and certainly plenty to give thanks for this weekend.  Let me tell you a few things I’m grateful for in my life, as this seems like an appropriate time:

– My Sweetie, who is forever telling me it’s going to be okay

– My family and friends, that make sure I know they are there for me

– My employment insurance which will give me the buffer I need to feel relaxed and not stressed while I find another employment opportunity

– My strengths and talents which give me a reason to feel confident as I embark on my job search

– My health

– And man, I’m only getting started.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words, and thoughtful advice recently as I move on to the next chapter in my life.  I’m so lucky to have such amazing people around me who remind me of the reasons for enjoying my life, when sometimes I forget.

Let the next chapter turn!  I’m ready!

What’s everyone doing this long weekend? (well, long for us Canadians anyhow)

I won’t even say good luck, because I know you don’t need it! But I will say take the time to relax and enjoy the weekend with no “to do’s” hanging on you for Tuesday! It’s a fantastic feeling.

This weekend for me? Just the right mix of revelling, relaxing, and roasting a fat bird!

Happy Thanksgiving Tanya. Just getting caught up on your blog. Having worked for a company that went through 9 rounds of layoffs before I threw in the towel, it often works out that those being let go were the lucky ones. Nothing more scary and exciting as new beginings.

And if you can stay unemployed until December, we can spend our afternoons drinking coffee, smoking and playing x-box. What could be better than that? ;-)

What a wonderful attitude! That’s the way to begin a new adventure!
    Wishing you all the best.

  • As long as you have this wonderful outlook on life, Chick-er-eeno, there’s no way things can’t turn out for the best! Keep it up. And enjoy your weekend. Do you eat turkey on Thanksgiving in Canada?

I’m having a VERY interesting weekend playing on Saturday Night Live tomorrow night! YIPPEEE!

Oh… and Michele MADE me come over. But I would have come on my own anyway!

I am SO behind on my reading, and for that, I must apologize.

Of all the folks I know, I worry about you the least. You’re the one most likely to find the opportunity in change and exploit it for all it’s worth. I can’t wait to see where you take yourself, and know that it’ll be another exciting chapter in an already-exciting journey.
