They're blank! They're all blank!
I just had to mention this, because I think it’s rather humorous: We’ve been living in our beautiful downtown home for 6.5 months, and we still don’t have *anything* up on our walls. No art, no enlarged photos… Not a thing.Â
How sad is that, when both M and I are artists? We really must get out of our decorating slump! I can’t wait for M to paint me something pretty, or cool, so that I can adorn the walls with his talented output!
What have you decorated your walls with? Do you have a favourite style or type of art that you’ve stayed with, or is your wall decor all over the map?

The first thing women ask when they come over my apartment is “where’s the bedroom?” (No, I’m not a stud, I always forget to tell them it’s a bachelor suite.) The second question they ask is “how come there’s nothing on the walls”. So other than a whiteboard with nothing on it, and a Salvador Dali poster my gf gave me, still nothin’ after all these years.
I’ve gone through phases in the past, but I seem to have settled on original art and photography. The art is mostly abstract, and the photography is mostly black and white or sepia. [I do have a wishlist though, and would love to add some native carvings and art.]
I’ve owned my house for just over 3 years now and there’s very little up on my walls either. When I first moved in I ordered some 24×36 enlargements of some of my favorite kayaking and hiking pics. They’re still laying on the floor of my storage room, Tan. It’s very sad.
I mainly have photographs I took while travelling. I have some original artwork that I still need to get framed…
Richard, you kill me!
Cin: I can’t wait to see your place, sometime! From what you described, I bet it looks fantastic!
Dave, I hear ya. I still can’t believe my lack of decorating skills and no time to correct it, even in my unemployed state!
Fresnelle: You’ll have to show me those photos — I bet they’re really cool!
I like hanging some of my best photos on my walls (I took a couple of courses at Langara a few years ago). I’m also hoping to get some original art soon. Looks like the Emily Carr student art sale will be on the Nov.17-19 (if you’re interested), am hoping to find something interesting there.. I didn’t know about it last year and happened across it by accident but it was at the end of the sale so it was already picked over…
My bedroom will eventually be all black & white photography. Some pictures taken by me, some prints… but all b&w photography.
One of these days. currently it’s one b&w print, and 5 of my own photos hanging from a clothesline (on purpose, I like the look *g*) but several of them are color, because I don’t often work in b&w. heh.
