Immersed in media
Today marks the first full week at my new job, and so far, it’s been fantastic! I must say, it’s a real change for me to go from working in an office full of programmers, to an office with strictly creative-types. This isn’t a bad change, not at all, but it’s certainly different!
With my current project, I’ve been dispatched to finding exciting and compelling ways to make a fairly new radio network’s website into something special. It’s a unique challenge, but one that I know I can easily manage. I am really enjoying putting many of my talents to good use with this project. I have a question for you… Have you ever visited a talk radio show’s website? What brought you to their online presence? Would you make a return visit?
Enough work talk, though! Halloween is coming, and I’m looking forward to heading out with a group of friends tomorrow night (most are bloggers, as it turns out) to enjoy the “Haunted Vancouver Trolley Tour” — Good times! I’m also looking forward to catching up with Miranda and Reilly on Halloween evening to watch some scary movies — I can’t think of a better way to enjoy the night, actually!
What are you doing for Halloween? Are you celebrating this weekend, or the night of?28 weeks later divx

Are you including CBC shows in ‘talk radio shows’? If so, then definitely–mostly to find more information about the topics being discussed. In terms of radio, I pretty much only listen to the CBC, so otherwise the answer is no.
With the exception, I guess, of visiting 1040′s site to occasionally listen to a Canucks game online if I can’t watch it.
Hi Tanya, I listen to 1410am alot, and a couple of reasons I went to their site was to do their online survey to give input into the radio shows topics, and also so be able to listen while I was surfing, and lastly to check out the faces of who was on the radio. Other times they will offer a contest, and I’ll go check it out as well. Other than that, I mostly listen to their radio show, and only occasionally visit their site. I’m glad to hear your new job is working out well for you. Talk to you soon Tanya.
Radio 4 in the UK has a good website and loads of podcasts. May give you some ideas?
I listen to local radio stations all day at work from my computer. Usually Z-95 or Jack FM, but have listened to almost all of the music stations at some time or other. What usually attracts me is the “Listen Live” feed and the numerous on-line contests that you can enter. If they run good contests I’ll return regularly to check them out!
Great feedback, guys! Thanks!
Let me first congratulate you on the new job. That is so great that you are loving it so far. I knew that you would do well!!
As for the talk radio thing.. I don’t really listen to it. The only time I have ever checked a radio website is to try to figure out the name of the last song they played. I never have any luck!
I have visited blogs of radio talk show hosts, but usually it is to browse their topics. The few I’ve actually seen were only by fluke.
Wish I could be of more help. Perhaps a call to the listener to interact on the forum with the host would inspire people to visit?
Thanks, Jen! It’s been fun so far!Â
Great input, UM! I’m considering incorporating a blog for the four syndicated shows (and growing)… And I’m also putting together a community as well!
