Hey, I’m back!

I didn’t touch a computer for 8 days!  Aren’t you all proud of me?

But, I didn’t go to the gym on the ship, either.  I tried, though:  I wanted to hire a trainer on the ship, but RCCL was terribly disorganized and didn’t even know how much the rates were for an hour of training for the first two days.  By the time I found out on the third day, I was already in a different headspace… Besides, we had several activities / excursions planned that were active in nature, so it wasn’t like I was being a couch potato on my trip.

So, all in all, I thoroughly enjoyed traveling with my Sweetheart, my Dad, his wife Sharon, and their good friends.  It was a special trip for that.  The boat, the Legend of the Seas?  I have to say, it was my least favourite of the 7 ships I’ve now been on.  Small, not a lot of activities, very few food choices (and hell, it’s a cruise… It’s supposed to be about the food), disorganized due to it only being the second sailing back from the Med.  I can say that many of the staff were exceptionally friendly, and when we had a major problem with a high-pitched rotor noise waking us up at 5am 2 days in a row (the ship is old, lets face it) the staff did go the extra mile to try to correct the problem for us.

As for the ports of call… Three of the four of them I could have just stayed on the ship, but thankfully, we did have excursions planned for many of them.  Grand Caymen hasn’t changed… Still not a lot to do there, but we did do these “Sea Spi” things which was like snorkeling without getting wet.  Costa Maya?  Dirty, and undeveloped.  We did clear kayaking at that port, which was oversold, and the “kayaks” turned out to be plastic canoes.  We still managed to have fun, and more so once we consumed a couple of beers on the beach before heading back by “kayak” to the drop-off location.  Belize City?  If we hadn’t have gone on the beer part of the beer & city tour, I would have been really dissapointed.  The city is extremely dirty, but Belize’s only beer facility was very clean, and fed us lots of beer.  Finally, Cozumel was fun for shopping, but the weather was dark, so no beach time as we’d hoped.

I don’t think it was Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, but the boat.  I’d like to try one of their larger ships for one of our future cruises… Some of their cruise liners looks absolutely amazing.

I’m glad to be back home, but this whole boil-water-advisory is driving me mad!  What a pain in the ass!

Hope everyone else had a great week while we were away!

I’m extremely proud of you for not touching a computer for an entire week–it’s hard to do when you’re used to having an Internet conncetion. You get itchy fingers. *twitch*

It’s too bad some of the things you expected didn’t turn out as planned, but at least you made the most of it. Did you get lots of pictures?

The boil water thing is SUCH A PAIN IN THE ASS. Excuse me for yelling, but try having a 2 month old baby, and having to boil like 5 huge pots of water for his bath, and then let them cool…not to mention for washing food, making the coffee etc etc. I have never purchased so much bottled water in my life either.. go figure I need to do it while breastfeeding and needing to drink like a 100 gallons a day LOL.

On another note, welcome back to you both! Sounds like your cruise was mixed success, but all in all fun and relaxing. I am bound and determined to get together with you and Michael before Xmas.

hey welcome back! I hope it was just the cruz line that sucked cuz we are going on a big cruz to Hawaii in Sept and I am totally looking forward to having a great time for the 12 days we are on board. They had no entertainment on that ship or what? like I thought they have movies theaters, shows nightly that kinda stuff… I hope it was just RCCL not Carnival but we are suppose to be on the fun ship..heheheh… hope you are still planning on coming with us in Sept….

Hey Tanya, welcome back! Nice to get away, and nice to be back. I spent the weekend at the Pacific Shores Resort( Craig Bay ) with my Mom and Sister, and NO kids! :) What a wonderful break for me. I was so glad to get home though. We just relaxed in the mineral spa with our yummy drinks, and shopped at Combs country market. ( cute stuff ) Then we ate in the lounge by the cozy fire, and comfy overstuffed chairs, while looking at the amazing floor to ceiling fish aquarium. We had a great time. I hope you got lots of pics, I can’t wait to see them. take care :)

When living in Ireland (and so I assume this applies to the UK as well), I had a very confusing conversation while working out what the terms ‘kayak’ and ‘canoe’ meant to the average British Islander. It turns out that they call canoes what we call kayaks. So, the reverse may also be true elsewhere?

Welcome back, Tan! I hope you really enjoyed all that wonderful weather. Here on the East Coast we had some nasty rain and wind. I’m sure your cruise was a lot nicer. Too bad about those fake kayaks–that’s something that should never ever be faked!

There IS NOTHING wrong with the water. It’s a conspiracy!

Re: Touching computers… Im very proud of you. You actually listened to me.

That, and not Vancouver not serving coffee…. Hmmm… should I be concerned about the world ending?

    Welcome back!

    Now call me!! :P

NOW you tell me about the water… I’ve drunk my third glass… should I just check myself into the hospital now?

Welcome back to dry land. I’m sure you’ve lots of great stories from the trip. The nearest I’ve been to a cruise is travelling Deck Class (literally sleeping on the deck) on a ship from Patras in Greece to Brindisi in Italy.

    Not quite the same.
