Do you ‘Twitter’?

Twitter: A new social engine, of sorts -- Find out what everyone's up to!…If you don’t, you should!

Well, at least, you should if you are the type of person that is always wondering what everyone is up to, because you want to get out and do something fun. Or, even, get on the phone with someone because they’re available.

And, how would you know they aren’t busy?

Use Twitter!

It’s a cool social engine of sorts that allows you to post updates of your current social situation to a site and your friends can receive them via IMs, web, or even their mobile phone.

In fact, Vern has been talking about building something like this with me for quite some time. Looks like Twitter beat us to it, and from first impressions, they seem to be doing it right! It’s not like I have a lot of extra time right now for after-hours projects anyhow… But I’m really happy to see a group has put something like this out as a free service.

I’m ‘netchick‘ (of course) on the service — Try it out, and add me!

I’m curious… Have you heard about Twitter? Would you use it if your social network did?

Yeah, I use it, but not to post updates about what I’m doing (as seems to be intended, since I consider what I do to be during a day fairly boring), but instead for one-liners that don’t seem to fit anywhere else.

Its not very good actually. Perhaps its just a start… but, its got no grasp.

If I wasnt building this company, I would be building MeMyMo.

    Shame that web is taken.

I’m already inundated with MSN, Google Chat, email, text messaging on my cell phone & all that “jazz”. I really couldn’t see me even using it. It would just be another account I’d have to remember to use, along with Ringo, AirSet, MSN, Hotmail, Google, my bank…you get the picture. Besides, I don’t even have time at work to remember who I am let alone what password I used to sign up…

I agree that we’re inundated with a lot of new media/social software. I’m looking forward to more integration of the best “stuff” in the future. Right now I’m just happy that I have “bloglines” as a blog aggregator, it takes me only minutes to scan the headlines for what I want to read.

That point is that….. instead of the internet services helping us to get together…..

    They have been barricading us.

Tanya and I have talked about this a lot. There is a lot more to come with services…. and its not as if we wont continue to look for the next thing.

Richard! Hi! I noticed your one-liners… They make me smile. Hope to see you on Thursday & Saturday!

    Vern: Not very good, how?

Fresnelle: I hear ya. I don’t use much of the IM or other less-useful online networking systems unless I need something specific.

Patricia… I agree — I’d love to see something that brings together many aspects of networking and communication — That said, to a degree, Twitter does that.

Vern (again) – Maybe in the next month or so, we can sit back down and talk about how we can do things right! (But, Zoe & I need to get that wine website finished!)
