I can't see…

No, seriously. I can’t. I’m practically typing blind here.

Today has been one very bizarre day war inc divx . After a crazy-stressful day yesterday dealing with a (place explative here) landlord who may have possibly put my financial identity in jeapardy, some personal drama that I don’t even want to talk about anymore, and generally a not-so-great start to the week, I was relieved it was Tuesday when I got up this morning.

And then I got out of bed.

This morning I had to get to the doctors for the very late depo shot I should have had weeks ago, and ended up waiting there for over an hour. (Damned medical system)… By the time I got into work it was 11:15am. And then, the world went sideways, quite literally. I sat down and suddenly my head kind of popped, and my right eye’s vision doubled.

I sat and waited a few minutes, and it wasn’t subsiding. I call the doctor, who I’d just seen, to see if I could get an ophthalmology referral over the phone. Ya, what was I thinking, of course I couldn’t. The medical office assistant sounded like she was scolding a 3 year old when she said “Hey, it’s your vision! Get to the hospital right now. …Don’t wait for an appointment!”

So, off I went… an hour after I got to work. St. Paul’s is such a lovely hospital. The decor is charming in mauve, mint green, and burnt orange. If I didn’t already have a headache before I got there, I certainly would have surrounded in those colours for the few hours I waited to see a specialist. He was perplexed. My symptoms apparently were mirroring that of someone who’d just recovered from a migraine, but that’s never happened when I’ve had migraines.

It was rather scary, actually.

Fast forward to 3:30, and I’m on my way back to work with very dilated pupils barely able to bear the sunlight during the drive, with a referral in hand to see a neurological ophthalmologist on Thursday.

I’m sure it’s nothing, but man, sitting there thinking about how bad my vision got in literally a heartbeat really makes you appreciate good vision when you have it.

Have you ever had a scare like that? (and, here’s hoping it’s just a scare and not something more serious…!)

ps: I have 3 JOOST INVITES! The first three people to comment here saying they want one, will get one! :D

Oh man…. I hope everything is OK

It is the season of inappropriate health scares, I think, or at least that’s what it appears as I’m still recovering from my pulled back muscle that left me completely unable to move last week. When your livelihood depends on oh, movement, or in your case vision, it certainly causes you to double take.

And you know you can call anytime if you need rides to hospitals, shared liquor, or just to vent, right? :)

Hey, hope everything is alright! I get migraines often, the vision ones. All of a sudden a fuzzy/snowy dot will appear and get bigger and bigger and then cover my entire view, then go away. Often it is accompanied by a migraine, but sometimes not. It’s just really annoying at times.

I had a weird reaction to a medication that made one eye dilate much larger than the other. I got sent to a neuro opthomalogist as well. They trooped in a bunch of baby docs to see my weird ass eyes (generally one dosen’t want to be that special at a md appointment). No harm, no foul, it still happens sometimes. Hope yours turns out the same.

Ay yi yi. That’s not a good start to a day. Our bodies are pretty mysterious machines sometimes. That variation hasn’t happened to me.

Well I think it is fairly obvious what the problem is. Our Lord God is punishing you for being lured to satan’s way of birth control. And rightly so!

    Repent you sinner.
