How I spent my morning…
My morning started off great! I was up early, the birds were chirping, coffee was on, and I was in a great mood. I was actually looking forward to bootcamp this morning, as I’d gotten to bed at a relatively decent hour last night and fell asleep easily.
I even msn’d Miranda, exclaiming how much I was looking forward to pushing it this morning — It was beautiful out.
And then… I got in the shower.
Which, I shouldn’t have even done in the first place, except it was such a warm night last night that I felt sticky this morning.
That was my mistake. Just as I was finishing up, I reached for a bottle and lost my balance. Overcorrecting myself in order to avoid falling backwards and breaking my neck, my knee somehow slammed against the bathtub’s rim, and when I recoiled back in pain, the same leg’s lower calf hit the faucet.
I was almost ill from the pain — And as it was the same knee that was damaged in my motorcycle accident a couple of years ago, I elected to head to St. Paul’s hospital right away.
Thankfully, most clumsy people aren’t up at that hour, and the ER was pretty dead. I was able to see someone in under an hour, and the xrays came back with info we already knew — Past ligament damage with some scarring, but nothing broken, thankfully.
So — This chick has to limit use of the knee for a few days. That sucks… But it could have been much worse. At least I got to work on time.
Are you a clumsy person? Ever do anything to seriously injure yourself?

No serious injuries, but day two of living with my old roommate, I came bouncing into the kitchen… and promptly slipped, doing the perfect Cartoon Character Pratfall. Feet came out from under me, I almost seemed to hover in mid air for a moment, before landing hard on my tailbone.
ow!
I hurt my shoulder while doing roman chairs (ab crunching exercise), and it’s not like you’re actually supposed to use your shoulder in the exercise at all. So I get bonus klutz points for that.
Ah that sounds painful!
I sprained my ankle on Robson Street 2 summers ago. Shockingly enough I was wearing flats! I have an unstable ankle and while it’s not unusual for me to turn my ankle (esp. in substandard shoes) I was walking quite fast. Left ankle turned, I lost my balance and torked while I fell on my knees. I barely made it home on the bus. A day later it swelled up to look like an elephant foot and everything including my toes turned purple. Not something I would like to repeat….
Hope your knee feels better soon.
You owe me $10 Miranda!
Hay, wait a minute!! You guys are actually betting on me? It wasn’t like I just didn’t get up, or didn’t feel like going! I *wanted* to go.
My bonehead move was successfully getting a couple tricks off a half pipe on Cypress…
My ego convinced my rational side that I was now a god on a snowboard… and my id too control of the game after that.
Sailing down mogul after mogul at probably 20K or 30K an hour… the head of the board flew into an icy mogul and stayed there…. my body continued forward.
Both legs broken… Blood pouring into my boots.
I got carted off in a stretcher… after what seemed like an eternity. Steve just laughed…. the bastard.
^^ LOL – I’mmmm just kidding about the $10.
Nice exaggeration, there Vern. Ya, you were carted off the mountain, and you had a few bruises to show for the silliness, but broken bones there weren’t.
Yah… But, I honestly believed that they were broken… and I could “Feel” blood in my boots. I was damned lucky they didnt snap. I had never felt so much pain in my life… even when I had actually broken bones.
It was only when the managed to get the boots off that I found out nothing was actually broken (by that time, I had figured one leg was broken, and the other badly bruised) Being lifted to and from the sled was pure agony.
Oh no!! That sounds like it really hurt, you poor thing. I hope you feel better soon and you don’t have too bad of bruises!!
Thanks guys… It’s still hurting, but I can thankfully walk on it, and I’m really hoping it will be drastically better tomorrow!
