"It's not gonna fit."
Bah! “Of course it’s going to fit!”
Vern stands back, inspects the car’s hatch area again. “Nope. It isn’t. There’s no way!” He glances sideways in my direction, and says, “Why don’t you see if there’s some guy in the parking lot with a pick-up truck? I’m sure someone wants to make $50?”
“Trust me. It’s going to make it home in *that* car. I just know it. Let’s just try instead of standing here eyeballing the car!” I’m starting to get a little frustrated. I know the box will fit.
And, this is how the 52″ Sharp LC52D82U
and a matching stand made its way to my livingroom last night. It was an auspicious start, to say the least.
The new tv & stand *did* make it — It didn’t go flying out of the back as Vern predicted, afterall!
Vern couldn’t believe it.
It wasn’t like we had to travel for 20 miles — The trip took a total of about 8 minutes, in fact. And, thankfully Tyler was on his way home at the time, and was able to help us bring the tv and stand upstairs (they are both very heavy items — especially the stand!)
It took quite a while to un-pack and set up, but when I finally turned it on to a decent cable channel, I knew all my research before buying this tv had paid off. The picture was remarkable… And the styling of the tv was second only to the very overpriced Sony XBR in my opinion. In fact, I’d gone to Costco last night ‘just to look’ at the 46″ prices in-store, because I wanted to make sure the deal at FutureShop was a good one this weekend.
But, when I walked in, and the first LCD I saw was this 52″… At the same price (within two hundred dollars, anyhow) as what my budget had been for the 46″, I was sold.
Now, it’s time for the X-Box 360 Elite purchase! Good times! Has anyone seen any stock in-store anywhere on one of these babies?

To my defense on this one…. the box was contorted somewhat, as we needed to force it… and it WAS HANGING OVER THE BACK!!!
It did just fit .. good thing for flexible packaging.
That looks really sweet!
Cool. Makes my set look Tom Thumb size! Do you play any games on your set where you connect with other players on the internet?
Very nice. Very nice. Did they include some pop-corn too? If you are in a situation like that again, I have a pick-up.
I love my LCD too–I just got a 6:1 sound system for mine last week. I may need a bigger living room.
shun the xbox! Get a wii!
oh dear, people and their toys..tsk tsk…
Wow – Xbox on that size hi def? Did you go for the all around surround sound too? (so you can hear the bad guys sneaking up behind)
And, it makes you literally ill flying in a car at 180 KM/hr on 52″ of 1080p! It’s crazy! And, Joe, I have a Sony home theatre which simulates in a very realistic way, surround sound (it’s a very cool technology).
