Woops, where did the week go?

I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off, this week.

Except for maybe the blood and gore part. But, definitely the frantic, scurrying part!

I’m trying desperately to get ready for New York — The countdown is down to hours. Work is insanely busy because we’re down one team member, and another just fathered twins (congrats, Joel!). And, when it’s not work, it’s birthday parties, unsuccessful shopping trips looking for that perfect dress to wear to an awards party, or more work to keep me busy.

I leave for New York on Saturday morning, and of course I’m going to have my customary pedicure at the airport. There’s nothing quite like getting on a plane for over 5 hours completely relaxed. In fact, there’s only one time in recent memory that I couldn’t complete this travel tradition — Christmas Day 2005, when I left for Europe for a month.

The trusty Canon Rebel XTi will be by my side during the whole trip, as I actually have to take a ton of photos of the behind-the-scenes fun during two live broadcasts I’ll be sitting in on, as well as during at least one event to celebrate the awards win by one of the talk show hosts I work with. Here’s hoping the photos work out! If a few do, they might even make it into a celeb column or two!

What’s everyone else looking forward to, this weekend?

Do you have any suggestions for me for New York for the first half of Sunday? That’s about the only free time I’ll have during my trip!

Wow. That sounds like one good trip you’re taking. I’ve never been to new york myself so I wouldn’t know what to do on a Sunday morning. I guess most things would be closed at that time, unless there are museums? Personally I would (if I were there) want to have a really good breakfast out and then take photos while it’s still a little bit on the quiet side in town.

Sounds very cool. Let us know the highlights when you get back. Have a good trip! :-)

I really don’t care for New York City. I guess I’ve been there so many times that it’s lost is luster. But if I had to pick a place to spend a Sunday morning I would consider the Carnagie Deli. Great food and a unique experience.
    Have fun!!

We’re doing the BB King’s Blues Club Sunday Gospel Brunch on Sunday morning/early afternoon. Brunch starts goes from 12:30pm to 1:30pm, then the Harlem Gospel Choir sings from 1:30pm to 2:30pm.

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is open at 10:30am. The Guggenheim is open at 10am. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is open at 9:30am.

You could always just hop on one of the Grey Line red tour buses and have a tour around “downtown” – Times Square, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Centre, World Trade Centre site, Little Italy.

Or, you could pop up to Carnegie Deli or down to Magnolia Bakery. :-) Mmmmm!

Only a half a day to yourself, then I’d suggest finding a good book, a nice coffee shop, and a pastry. Don’t forget the ipod.

    :)

This weekend, I have a major change happening at the client site I’m at in Poland right now. So it’s working weekend for me. But when it’s all done with, I plan on finding the Absinthe cafe nearby ;)

I’m going to check out the Ames Space Research Center near San Fransisco… something to do.

One day, I want to live in a building like that. It would be fun to play in the wind tunnel.

PS: I really like Russ’ dry sense of humour. Here is my contribution:

“I’m getting a little bored of food… I’ve been eating it all my life. You know, there is only so much a person can take of it… really.”

Sounds like you’re going through your pre-trip trip! You’re going to have a fabulous time. Can’t wait to hear all about it. As for me, I’ve got running and a trip to the art gallery and street photography at this weekend’s Commercial Drive Car-Free Festival.

    Think happy thoughts!

  • Great suggestions, guys! I’m actually considering a few of them… Further info in my next blog post from NY!

Have a great weekend, everyone! I’m off to pack!

Have a great time! It seems we went down to Rockefeller Plaza and got bagels with lox and cream cheese. We watched the people tyring to get on television and just hung out.
