TGIF!!

Okay… This isn’t Friday silliness this week (although I have some good ones for next week), but rather something that blew my mind this morning…

Which way is this dancer spinning?

I only see one way… Clockwise, which apparently says I’m primarily using my right brain to process the image.

The Herald Sun goes on to say:

(Counter-clockwise) LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS

BIZARRE: Really!! Jason (my colleague) is freaking out because it keeps shifting for him. I have only seen the image travel in one direction.

What direction do you see the image rotating?

I’m so pleased it’s Friday! I’ve been in PowerPoint hell for a number of days, and quite honestly, if I see one more elderly person in a bathtub, I’m gonna lose it! Aaaaahhhhhh!!!!

What are you looking forward to, this weekend? Me? Tonight, I’m taking three girlfriends out to deep dark Langley for a “passion party” (hehe… I’m single… I need toys! LOL!) And tomorrow afternoon, I’m committed to completely clearing out my bedroom. I’m going to be ruthless and throw absolutely everything out that I’m not using (err, probably give most of it away, actually) and later that night, I’m off to Campoverde for their SupperClub (to make up for last week), and Sunday, I’m hoping to catch up with Cynthia Pink Panther 2 movie for a drink. It’ll be a nice weekend!

I hope you have a great one, too!

  • Cynthia says:

eee! that’s weird! i see clockwise but if you look at her bottom foot, it looks like it changes direction, but the rest of her doesn’t. very strange!!

  • Laura says:

What?! That is so weird, because to me that is CLEARLY counter-clockwise and definitely not changing direction. Nuts!!

  • Miranda says:

    Crazy!

I was convinced I could make it flip and then it did, but now I can’t get it back

I started right brain, now it’s left brain. I couldn’t make it change staring at it it, but then I tried reading something (left brain)right near it so I could see it just barely out of my focus, then I realized I saw it moving counter clockwise.

It’s gone back to normal for me – clockwise/right brain – now, but the reading/left brain activity seems to have done the trick to flip it.

Thanks for sharing this one! Hadn’t seen anything like that before

  • Miranda says:

Crazy! K, I know I just commented, but yup – I can flip it pretty reliably now just by reading something or looking at and adding some numbers. STRANGE!

  • I think it’s a conspiracy… I can only ever see it clockwise. Or, maybe it’s all these old people taking baths?

    heheh…

  • reilly says:

    ummm… that is so odd!

  • zoemma says:

i agree with Miranda. I haven’t been able to forcibly shift it yet, but i do see it flipping between the two. I most frequently have it going clockwise, but have seen it go counter-clockwise as well. what does that mean???

  • Rick says:

OK, T… You are in serious need of professional help I think. Where the hell did you find that?!?! And more importantly, WHY are you looking at old people in bathtubs?!?!! Ewww…

I can make it flip back and forth too. Does that mean that I will soon start seeing old people in bathtubs?

hehe… have a great weekend hun!

  • gillian says:

Clockwise for me, but I’m in tune with my inner self.

I was trying to think of how Powerpoint could be anything but hell, but the idea of old dudes in bathtubs (I’m assuming not entirely clothed?) makes me want to crawl into bed and call for my mommy.

  • Cynthia says:

hey tanya!! i hope you got my email in between all those old folks bathing in the powerpoint- augh!- sunday for sure- let me know what time!! 6 or 7-ish?

  • Charlene says:

No matter how long I stare at it I can only see clockwise. Sounds like you have a fun weekend planned T. Me, I’ve got a family dinner tonight with Uncle in from LA and a dinner at friends tomorrow. End of season crew dinner and bowling on Sunday as both of our boats have finally returned to Vanc. from the Great Bear Rainforest. Good times!

  • Hey Cynthia! I got your email… sorry was out for a quick lunch before being submerged in more bath-related old people. (Gill, you make me almost cry I was laughing so hard). Looking forward to seeing you and Norm on Sunday! I’ll drop you an email!

And, after doing some math, now I see it going counter-clockwise! BIZARRE!

  • Cynthia says:

yay! lookin’ forward to seeing you!!!
    xo

  • dearheart says:

Ha! I can ONLY see it counter-clockwise. Not news to me, considering I’m extremely left-brained! :-)

Now, I WANT to see it clockwise. No matter how hard I try, though, it’s always counter.

  • jenn w/ 2 n's says:

i love this! i can only see clockwise and i’ve tried to look at the foot to see if it goes the other way and nope! neat-o

  • It changes direction! How cool!!

  • mckay says:

    i see both directions. fre-key.

  • mckay says:

the switching seems to occur when you focus on the shadow for a bit.

  • dearheart says:

Ha, again! I *just* saw her going clockwise! :-)

  • Hannah says:

I still can’t get her to go clockwise – she’s only counterclockwise for me.

  • Tawcan says:

Hey I saw that on news tonight!

Clockwise for me. I’m left handed so my right brain is suppose to be stronger than my left.

  • Al says:

she flip flops all over the place for me.

  • nancy says:

FREAKY! FREAKY! I only see counter-clockwise; not even a glimpse of the other direction. Thanks for a really fun post, although it’s going to bug me all day. Hope the closet cleaning is fun!

  • Rob says:

    Hey that’s no fair..she changed direcion in mid pirhouette…er…pirouhette?…um…that spinny thing she’s doing…Cool site…btw,

  • Rastin Mehr says:

Every time I’ve looked it was clockwise, and I now I have quite a nice balance of left and right sides of brains working. I am a Computer Scientist who does visual arts for hobby.

Do people actually see counter-clockwise rotation in that animation?

  • Hey Rastin,

I can actually make it go both ways, now. Took some serious thought though, and looking out the side of my eye helps while I imagine it going in the other direction, and then it does!
