Almost home.
This is one trip that I’ve missed home more than I ever have in my entire life. I’ll even include my over-seven months in Los Angeles into that equation.
I know I say this alot, but I have to say it again… I’m so lucky to have such amazing friends. One of them even called me last night in BARCELONA!!?? because I was so sad and hurt with some of the things that have gone on during this ‘vacation’. Thankfully, Michael knows me very well, and was able to make me feel much better. I can’t believe that we’ve known each other 10 years this week, and though much of it has been from a distance (he’s a family doctor in IL) I’ve always trusted him with my closest-kept thoughts. I needed some advice from him last night, and he insisted on calling …Thanks M. You really, really helped.
I’ve been following the crazy
weather that Vancouver has been hit with, from the middle of the sea! Wow. I know I’m weird, but I actually love snow, and would have had so much fun skipping around in it at midnight. Maybe some will be left when I get home? I hope so!!
Hmm… This is turning into a bit of a rambling post, but that’s the mood I’m in, so sorry you have to suffer through it if you made it this far!
I have to say, the trip certainly wasn’t *all* awful. I met some really, really incredible people on the cruise… That was certainly the big highlight of the trip for me. My four new friends and us went out to dinner last night at this neat, contemporary tapas place around the corner from our hotel. During one point at the end of the dinner my traveling companion actually had to point out that we were laughing too loudly, and people around us were giving us the evil eye. *sigh* We decided to take it outside at that point. The one couple that I just adored actually picked up the tab for the whole table. Far too generous!
Most nights during the cruise I was at the on-board casino… And, for the first time in my life, I lost every single night!! Wow, I guess I should have taken my cue from how the trip started, and cut my losses early, but hay, I had fun, and despite the fact that I did lose a whole lotta money, when I consider the fact that I’ve literally paid for previous cruises and trips, and had thousands left over from past wins, it’s a loss I’ll happily take for the good times and laughs I shared with my fellow shipmates on board — At least I wasn’t spending most nights alone. Besides, lets face it — Although winning is fun, I certainly wasn’t there expecting to make money. It’s all good.
Well, I think I’ll go do my online check-in now, so that I can actually get a decent seat on the way home. Did you know that British Airways allows bulk-head and exit rows to be booked 24 hours in advance? Getting to Vancouver early to depart was such a waste of time… But, I know that now!
I’m leeeaving… On a jet plaaane… And, I definitely know when I’ll be home again. ![]()
I can’t wait to see Vern’s happy face at the airport.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the snow is already almost gone – the Pineapple Express has rolled in, temps have soared to 10+, and 100-150mm of rain is predicted within the next day or so. Aren’t you glad you’re coming home to such familiar Vancouver weather?
Oh what? Now I have to be happy? (( Why can’t a day ever go MY way?!?! ))
Hey, just skip a few provinces over. Ontario has more then enough snow to share. 30 cms since the weekend. 4 more projected for today.
you’re looking forward to seeing Vern’s happy faced at the airport??
Wow, that was a bad trip.. :-p
Sorry the cruise was not what you expected due to the situation, but you can now take Med cruise off your random things about you list…………….. or do you want to do it again????
Can’t wait to see you back in Vancouver, Tanya! You have been missed. Travel home safe.
