The plague has arrived.

I thought I’d be the only one of my friends who successfully avoided that awful plague going around this last little bit. But. I was wrong.

I’m currently shivering (like, whole body shakes that I can’t stop, no matter how warm I am), puking, and other nasty things I won’t declare… It’s just, not nice. At all.

Suffice to say, I’ll be having a sick day from work tomorrow. Precisely the worst timing possible, too. I have *SO MUCH* work to finish this week, with deadlines looming. Grr.

This is one of those few times that I don’t enjoy being single (On the most part, I’m actually embracing singlehood with a smile these days). — It sucks to be alone when you are sick, though. I get all pouty… And there’s no one around to cheer me up and hold me close. :( Blech.

Did you suffer from the nasty Noro-plague this season?

Okay, this chick is going back to bed. Please feel free to continue to talk amongst yourselves with the socializing game below, from last week, since I’m just too sick to post another, sorry! Look for an exciting blog entry about my trip to Alberta, coming soon, when I’m feeling better!

  • hey tanya! oh what a bumming bummer! we’ve avoided it so far but friends of mine, they just had the whole family ravaged with it. yuk yuk yuk!

don’t know if it helps but i imagine a plump, doting fairy godmother right now, puttering around you, her whole being concentrated on nothing but making you comfortable. “some more peppermint tea, my dear?”, “you stay there. i’ll get you another hot water bottle”, “let me plump up those pillows for you”.

    good night!

I had the plague for New Year’s. And I’m still sick (although I’m suspecting that I may have gotten over the plague but caught a cold, because now it’s mostly just coughing). At any rate, not fun. Hope you feel better soon!

Oh hell yes! There are days where I’m very very thankful for having gone through renovation hell. We have three commodes now and all three were in use just after Christmas. It was not fun having 6/7 of us NOT having a good time.

Sorry you’ve got it now. It really is making the rounds.

Oh dear Tanya….. I hadn’t heard of this plague but sounds pretty horrible. If you need someone to do a gingerale run for you let me know. I will pass it through a crack in your door…
Looking forward to hooking up when you are feeling better.
    Healthy Hugs MJ

Take care, eat lots of things with healthy vitamins in it.

I’m sorry you’re feeling so poorly, Tan. I hope you turn the corner soon and start to feel better. As far as I know, that bug isn’t getting people around here yet—at least I’ve not had it. *knock on wood*

Happy New Year Tanya! I look forward to hearing about your visit to Alberta and connecting with your family. Sorry to hear you are battling a bug at the moment. Was feeling a bit of a flu like bug myself yesterday. Loaded up on Oil of Oregano and early to bed. Must get healthy before we head to Mexico for 3 weeks on Friday. We should get together with Rachel for drinks when I get back.

  • K says:

That sounds like what I just had on the weekend. It only lasted for 3 days though so hope you feel better soon.

  • Babe! I hope you feel better very soon.

As you know (from my fierce pouting and complaining last week) I succumbed to the Bubonic plague myself. It was insane, and just plain cruel (who knew a body could rebel in so many ways?!) Yuk!

Wishing you a speedy recovery – especially so we can play again soon. (I’m selfish, ya know!)

We have a plague here in Florida. It’s call the Snowbird Plague. It’s all those northerners bringing their sickness’s and the dreaded “I’m a New Yorker so Kiss my Ass” disease.
    There is no cure…

hmm… I might have your plague. Not throwing up, but queasy and tight headache, stuffy nose. If I could get rid of the headache I might be ok. But like you I’ll take the day off tomorrow.

Hope you feel better Tanya. I tend to get over flus & colds quick so I’ll give you my remedy (maybe it’ll help you): overdose on fruit!. Especially eat oranges. Juice is good but it’s better to eat the real thing even the membranes are good for you. Mangos also good. I always “dose” my ailments this way and it seems to quicken up the recovery process.

AND if you dare (but when you’re single it doesn’t matter): Garlic soup. This is homemade and dead easy to make. Just mince or press as many garlic cloves as you like and boil it in about a litre of water. Poach an egg in it until it’s set. Spoon egg into bowl pour broth over (when the yolk is popped it makes the soup velvety) and serve with croutons. I always make this during my cold/recovery, easy on the stomach and health protein and garlicky goodness.

    Get better soon.
