People keep asking me…

Why am I wearing my hair up, all the time? Passengers buy

Uh, because my last hair cut sucked? That’s why. It’s so damned short, and because of that, outrageously curly. And, I really hate frizzy, curly hair on me. Like, really.

Oh, and I forgot to mention about my negative experience during the cut… When I visited the salon the last time, the hair stylist (or whatever the PC term for her would be) didn’t say a word to me, other than a quick “yes” or “no” when I tried to start a conversation. It was so bizarre, and so frustrating, that I won’t go back to Aveda after my latest experience a few weeks ago. I’m officially looking for a new stylist.

Onto a different topic!

Here’s what you can look forward to, coming up for entries on this blog:

– Finally, my Brother Laser Color Printer review. I’m dreadfully behind with this one, because I only actually started using it a few weeks ago because of the move. That extensive review is coming shortly!!

– A book review on a great book I just finished reading, and will probably pick up and read again soon to glean more goodness: Eckhart Tolle’s “A New Earth”.

– I received a protective shield for my iPhone from BodyGuards last week, and I’ll be installing it tonight with Monica’s video assistance. Look forward to a video blog review on that product!

– Another contest! (details to come)

And, a question for you, today: What’s the coolest thing you’ve purchased for yourself, lately?

Dreamland trailer

Gremlins film

So, stay tuned, kids! :) And, happy Tuesday!

I can recommend my stylist, if you’re interested. She’s fun to talk to and she really knows hair.

The coolest thing I’ve purchased for myself recently would be my percolator/”hot water dispenser”. Just a big kitchen appliance that heats up water and keeps it hot. For a chronic tea drinker like me it’s utter heaven: no more waiting for the kettle to boil.

    (Yes, I’m not that cool)

    Wow, I’m first??
    Honored….
I bought myself a Jeep Wrangler. I don’t need it, and it’s totally a frivolous, selfish, just for me and Charlie kind of thing.
We drive around with the top down and the stereo cranked!!

Darn. Not first… Too slow on the click.

I can also recommend my stylist: Tanis at Lure Salon (http://www.luresalon.ca). Also, if you tell them I referred you I think we both get a discount. :)

The coolest thing I purchased for myself recently was on my recent trip to Barcelona. I got a really neat short-sleeved blazer at a store called Desigual.

I’m a boy, and as you can see, my hairstyle really sucks, so I am not the right person to recommend a salon.

As for the coolest thing I bought for myself? My videocamera. I am now able to talk to my Mom using Skype for ZILCH. ZERO. NADA.

    :)

    Hugs!

Stylist? Try Patti Kool, at Red Ruby(Granville St). She’s talkative, gives a good cut and is excellent with her colours (she trained in Italy). She gives me highlights that don’t look “rooty” when they grow out. A few of my co-workers also go to her and they love her work.

Cool purchase? I think I’m going to get a copy of the movie “Paris J’taime”. I totally want to watch over & over again …

So how’s that iPhone working out for ya? Any problems with an unlocked iPhone on the Roger’s network?

I hi-jacked my iPod Touch and started downloading apps for it. There are some really good apps out there but I’ve got alot more surfing and installing to do.

I have my own personal stylist. ;) But sadly she’s not taking new clients anymore due to her 2 – 3 month wait list.

Cool purchase? Heh, well that would be my new motorbike, a 2007 Triumph Sprint ST. :D

Sorry to hear about the hair fiasco. I have my own personal barber and he does an awesome job and charges me nothing :)

I have a couple of recent purchases that I’m happy about. First is my Canon EFS 60 mm Ultrasonic Lens. I’ve been wanting a macro lens and this baby is great. I’m not a great photographer and I do need lessons, but hey you can find some on my Flickr page

Secondly it’s my new Sony Ericson W580i phone. Granted it’s not an iPhone that I really want, but it’s a good standin for now.

You’re reading Tolle too. (Too meaning, lots of people are. I haven’t myself.) A poor fit of a hairdresser is so frustrating. The worst ones say ooops, ooops, huh?, ooops. and we’re not allowed to run out screaming, why?

coolest thing purchased? no gadgets lately. a couple dozen books….a dress. I got a really cool dress lately, hard to describe, no vocab, no photos…

I have naturally super curly hair. (I work HARD to get it straight in the AM) I have an AMAZING stylist/colourist team.

Go to Chemically Addicted on Davie at Seymour and see Trevor. He LISTENS to what you want, knows how to cut curly hair and doesn’t ever give you a labour intensive style if that’s not your thing.

Tell him I sent you. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

  • Hey there, T – this isn’t an answer to your question, but yet another recommendation – a little but very sexy salon called “Satellite” in gastown. Near Victory Square Park. Amazing stylists, good prices and in addition, very progressive – the owner really nurtures the young stylists who simply don’t leave because they’re so respected by the owner (= treated well as a result) plus, as a team, they regularly go to women’s shelters and give free, top-quality cuts.

  • Delayed comment replies… Sorry! Thanks for all the stylist tips, guys! I’ll look into them, once I get over the trauma ‘wink’ :)

Rog — No probs at all. I’ve even messed with the uh, phone’s other settings so that it’s uh, cheaper for data. Deets in an email if you are interested.

Al — Bugger ;) Q is impossible to get in to see. She’s really great, though! Yer lucky. I want a new bike, too. But, I really should get a new(er) car before a bike. I’d love an Audi TT, or Pontiac Solstice. *sigh*

Isabella — scrying mirror? What’s that?

Sounds like fun toys! I want an XSi, too. I guess I’d need to sell my XTi, first.
