Introspection

I had a very introspective day on Sunday. I was up very early… (too early) 6:30am, and as I couldn’t get back to sleep, I decided to go out for a very long walk. It was a beautiful morning — perfect for some reflection on my life, lately.

There hasn’t been enough healthy “me” time, I decided. Sure, there’s been some unhappy, lonely, sad time spent on my part — We all get into those ruts. I find that when I don’t have a partner around to remind me that I’m taking too much time out for that, it’s hard to recognize on my own until it’s too late.

So, I gave myself a mental attitude check during my walk, and decided that I’ve felt lonely for long enough, and now it’s time to put some *real* effort into dating. I’ve only been out on two dates in months and months, and obviously that effort is not going to provide me with positive results.

Because, I’m so absolutely tired of being single.

I deserve a meaningful relationship with someone special, and it’s time I did something positive about it.

And so? I’ve now hired a personal trainer whom I’ll be working with in my new gym 3 times a week, and my online dating profile is active again (and no, that’s not my only means to get out there dating again, but it’s a good start to meeting new people that are in the dating pool too).

How was your weekend?

I still think you should’ve taken on my personal trainer… she’s so killer you’ll be buff in minutes.

I tried online dating again a few weeks ago, but ran away screaming. SCREAMING. Now that I’m 30 it seems only men in their 50s want to date me. I swear, it was much different just a few months ago… Or otherwise sleazy guys who nag me for more photos of myself. I guess I just can’t deal with all that.

Thanks for the fun party on the weekend, it was cool.

You seem like a great catch to me, Tan. Good luck with the search-and I hope your introspection moves in a more positive direction!

I’ve wanted to get a personal trainer for a while because I figure that might help with my ‘gym commitment issues’ :-P Let us know how it goes!

  • Hey Gill! I am trying out this guy because he’s double certified, and only $30 per one hour session when I book 12 at a time. (and he comes to my gym) That said, if he doesn’t work out, I’ll definitely try your kick-butt trainer! T’was awesome having you guys over on Saturday night! — And, I know what you mean about the online dating thing. I get a lot of guys far older than I am asking me out, but I’ve made it really clear in my profile that I’m looking to date men 32-45. I think that’s a large enough window. It’s not like I’m even close to either of those age ranges!

    Dave, awww… thanks! :D

    Thanks P!

Rebecca — I’ll let you know how this guy is!

    Dearest Tanya,

You are awesome, you know that. The truth is, nobody knows what you need more than you do, so if you think you need to be in a relationship, then by all means, I am sure you will find THE ONE.

You deserve an amazing guy and I hope you don’t ever settle! Just be your amazing self, and I’m sure you will be find someone amazing! Yay for personal trainers, and online profiles, and social activities!

Thank you so much for a very fun party on Saturday!

I don’t know. I think a pet monkey might be fun. Monkey’s make great companions, and they almost always behave themselves when they are bored.

Hmmm…. perhaps I will invent a way for people to have fun yet… that involves BOTH the internet and that other thing called… oh whats it called again… Lif..Lief.reave…Real LIFE! It would have to involve lasers tho. Living is always better when lasers are a part of it.
