Gratitude

Here’s a few things I’m so very grateful for in my life right now…

– My new family

It’s been so amazing to meet and get to know my biological family. They’ve all been so remarkable, and they have accepted me as part of the family with open arms. I can’t believe how quickly they’ve felt like my family — It’s like I’ve known them my whole life, and yet, it’s only been a matter of months. And, on top of that, to have a cousin so close by has been truly awesome… Hollie, her husband Chris, and their girls are such incredible people, and Hollie feels like a sister I never had.

– My friends
Wow. I know I say this a lot on my blog, but my friends are the most incredible people. Monica has fast become someone that I trust without hesitation, and every time we get together, you can’t shut either of us up. I’m so lucky to have her in my life. There are so many other people that I’ve only recently come to know (in the past year or so) that have truly enriched my life, too… Too many to mention, but you know who you are. Thank you, for being you. :)

– My home
Y’know, if you’d asked me this time last year if I’d ever live in Yaletown, I would have laughed. Now, I’ve found that I absolutely love my neighbourhood, and the people in it. People are so much more friendly in my new area than they ever were in Coal Harbour! And, the benefit of having so many neat and unusual dining establishments nearby has been a total bonus. My two wishes regarding my current place (which won’t come true because I don’t own it) would be that I had hardwood flooring (I often have social gatherings which totally suck with white carpet), and that I had a proper dining area. Oh well… I still like my place, and the view is stunning!

– My job

I’ve really started to enjoy establishing relationships with some awesome people in my current position. It’s nice not having to have my head buried in code all the time, and being able to manage a team, and constantly hone my social media and marketing talents — I love having the freedom to share my knowledge with our clients, and seeing the results of my efforts realized. It’s really rewarding.

Wah? Are you surprised that I added this to my list, today? Don’t be. Yes, I grumble a great deal about being single, but being so has given me the freedom find the ideal match for me, rather than being in a relationship that is going nowhere, or unfulfilling in some major way. And, although I’m not a big fan of dating, this process has also allowed me to get past my rather shy nature, and meet some amazing new people (see above) because I’ve had to learn to connect with strangers during my times of singlehood. And, I have no doubt that because of this freedom as a single woman, I’ll ultimately have the opportunity to find the just the right guy, when I least expect it.

  • I am pretty grateful for, well, just about everything in my life. Especially my amazing, fun and supportive friends (Hello, Tanya!) and my partner. I’m also really thrilled with the progression of my career, and how fantastic, welcoming and encouraging the social media/tech community have been. I’m very lucky.

I love the era that I live in. I use to feel bad that I had missed the 60s since I’ve felt out of step with mass culture and feel a strong afinity to the 60s. But, being in love with technology and new things the way I am, I couldn’t have done any of the things that I have in any other era. eg, creating video games, synthetic 3D graphics, and online education such as SpellingCity.com – john

Only recently came across your blog – quite by chance really. However your post here… if by Hollie and Chris and their girls you mean girls with ‘fragrant’ names… OMG this is a small world. LOL!

  • Hey Andrea! (welcome!)
