Another INANE Rogers Wireless Policy — Shocking, not.
I’m livid.
I had four people call me last night about my plan. So I called Rogers to see what the process would be to transfer my plan over to the new customer — It can’t be that difficult, right?
Except, they won’t let me keep my number. No matter what I do.
What kinda bullcrap is that??!!!! The new person was quite happy to buy a new number (hell, I would have paid for it) but no. *MY* number, that I’ve had for over 11 years is owned by the Rogers Wireless contract. If I want to hold on to my number I have to pay the ECF – that’s $500!
WTF!?
I don’t want an iPhone that

This is just stupid. I absolutely despise Rogers Wireless. The moment we get another GSM provider in Canada, they’ll get my business.

Isn’t Fido GMS/ GPRS? Their home page is advertising the new iPhone as well
Fido has been a Rogers Wireless subsidiary for several years now.
What about moving to one of the other evil empires temporarily and taking advantage of number portability to transfer it. Go on a month to month plan, then when your i-crack comes out and you have the opportunity to be wedded to yet another contract, do the transfer thing again.

Yeh, that would work… Except that the nagging $500 ECF takes effect. I tried that. I even said, “what if I move my number to a pay-as-you-go card” — NO GO. They considered that to be canceling my contract, even though I was just getting another number for the existing contract. They are just asshats, plain and simple. They don’t want me to sell/give my contract to anyone else… They miss out on the $500 FREE money that way.
Asshats.
Agreed, Asshats.

Rogers customer service may be frustrating, but believe me, you don’t want to go toe-to-toe with the TELUS machine. It’s UGLY…
it is illegal since 2007 in Canada
You can transfers your phone number for a small fee (25$)
You can transfers your cellphone numbers for your home numbers
Rogers cannot own numbers

i agree with darren, however sometimes i wish rogers would get a brain and just act like a company with morals.
