Rogers Wireless iPhone Plans Announced.

Or, is that Robbers Wireless? The new Rogers plans for the iPhone were announced this morning.

Colour me shocked. Shocked, I say! (I’m obviously being facetious… I’m not at all surprised we’re being ‘bent over’ yet again)

* $60/month -150 anytime minutes, 75 outgoing SMS, + 400 MB data
* $75/month – 300 anytime minutes, 100 outgoing SMS, + 750 MB data
* $100/month – 600 anytime minutes, 200 outgoing SMS, + 1 GB data
* $115/month – 800 anytime minutes, 300 outgoing SMS, + 2 GB data

Uh. Ya.

*shaking my head*

Were you shocked that, once again, Rogers is taking us Canadians for a ride?

    I second the shaking of the head.

    I know that the IPhone tech is bleeding edge and then some, but for now I’m happy to stick with my cute little Sony Ericcson phone *pets*.

    Looking forward to seeing you tonight :)

    True, compared to other countries, it’s still pretty excessive. But my own cell phone bill is going to be cut almost in half now with this plan.

    The maximum data you could have with Fido was 200 MB. That cost $100/month. (If you went over, it was $85 per breath.) I used about 75 MB worth of data each month, but sadly, the plans were only 50 MB or 200 MB.

    Now, I can get 400 MB (more than I’ve used before), PLUS voice and services for a lot cheaper.

    I’m pretty happy.

    So I’ve found the answers to a lot of floating-around questions and rumours out there: http://todmaffin.com/iphonerumours

    I had really planned on signing up for this. These rape chargers have me second guessing it.

    After reading your tirades about Rogers, I thought I’d share this little gem with you. A couple of of my co-workers here in Bucharest are from Canada. One of them has a cel phone plan with Rogers. He knew that using it here would incure roaming charges so he was careful to only use it for emergencies. For the past month he has not made a single call, but he got a bill for $400. Turns out the charges were not for actual calls but for carrier changes. Every time that every time the phone changed carrier areas (ie he left an area covered by Vodaphone and went into an area covered by Orange)he was charged $3, even without making a call. Just for picking up the signal. What’s more is that his apartment is on the line so toward the front, his phone picks up Vodaphone but in the other room it switches to Orange. He has a little girl that is 1 1/2 years old who loves to grab this cell phone and run around the house pretending to “talk”. (They lock the keypad of course so she doesn’t make any real calls). As such, she incurred a $74 in one afternoon because as she walked the carrier signal switched. $3 for every trip frfom the bedroom to the sitting room. Needless to say my friend is livid.
