Okay, I know this is redundant, but…
Work with me.
If it’s at all unclear, I’m unhappy (wow, that’s a euphemism!) with the Rogers Wireless plans, and the general care and attention they pay to their clients.
I mean, what other company, after months of knowing that they’ve scored the lucrative EXCLUSIVE contract with APPLE to sell their iPhone across Canada, and collect INSANE amounts of cash for the luxury of using said iPhone in our country — What other campany would leave their current clients in the lurch, and charge all clients such a ridiculous amount for the opportunity to use this one stupid electronic device.
Only Rogers, of course.
And, not only do they roll out the most ridiculous of rate plans, compared to practically any other first world country, but they leave their current clients scratching their heads wondering if they’ll be part of the spectacle that will be July 11th in Canada.
I, for one, will NOT be a part of the spectacle. Like it wasn’t obvious, already.
So, fellow Canadians, what can we do about this? For starters, stand up — At least online — And share your displeasure Jump In! movie download Kevin & Perry Go Large film
download Kicking It dvd download Fearless movie download Revenge of the Boarding School Dropouts movie . It takes moments, and not a cent.
There’s much more we can do, but at least speaking out is a start…?
ps: Won’t it be awesome, when Rogers loses their stranglehold on the GSM market? The spectrum auction is almost over, and my insider sources tell me that Bell will soon be moving to the GSM band, as well. Rogers, you are about to lose a whole lot of clients. That’s the only reason why you are trying to make us sign 3 year contracts with an iPhone purchase when many of the other 21 countries will only hold their clients to 2 year contracts (not to mention AT&T, which will only be requiring a 2 year contract, on top of reasonable $30 unlimited data plans). Jerks.
UPDATE: Apparently the site I’ve linked to above has already hit the 10,000 mark.

Thanks for the info, and the pointer to the website. I’ve signed the petition, of course. I look forward to seeing how Rogers responds. or not.
I also signed the petition. And I posted the link to my Facebook profile.
I don’t think Roger’s has the stranglehold on ridiculous rate plans. I haven’t looked at plans at my provider, good ole Telus, for 2 years. The data plans, at least back then, were insane.
Why do we not have the competition that the US has? Why are we Canadians always taking it in the a**?

While I like your optimism, don’t expect Bell to go to GSM. They’re firmly entrenched in the CDMA camp without much wiggle room – their northern network can’t really be converted in an economic fashion.
Latest rumors from HowardForums are that Telus is considering their own GSM/LTE buildout for 2011 or 2012. (LTE is what’s commonly referred to as 4G, which shares the same base technology as GSM.) Since Telus does a significant amount of tower sharing with Bell, building their own GSM infrastructure to stay competitive is a good thing for everyone.
If you actually want unlimited data in Canada (with the usual stipulations about ‘unlimited’), the best options are either Telus or Bell’s $30/month Windows Mobile or BlackBerry plans. While you can’t tether your device to a laptop or use BlackBerry Enterprise Server, it’s probably the easiest way for consumers to go.

Welcome, Jake & Chris!
And thanks guys for voicing your opinion. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that enough people will save their cash and let Rogers drown in their bad karma on July 11th.
ps: Interesting rumours, Jake. I saw the same thread about Telus. — I’ll likely be going to Bell, as long as they have a reasonable offer.
