I got an email at 4pm today from VacationsToGo.com Fido rip
— Something I’d subscribed to a long time ago and forgotten about — Telling me that they’ve got a cruise coming up to the Caribbean for singles, and there were a few spaces left.
So, of course, I immediately got myself into my boss’s office and asked him if he was away at the end of October. He wasn’t… So… I AM! It’s a new record for me! I decided on, and booked a vacation in under 10 minutes. Phew! I guess I needed that vacation, huh?
I’m booked in a balcony cabin with a woman around my age. I’m sure I’ll find out more details about my cabin mate and the group going soon. It’s on the Freedom of the Seas, which is one of the largest Royal Caribbean Cruise liners.
My ports of call this time include: Miami, Florida; Labadee, Haiti; Ocho Rios, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman; Cozumel, Mexico. I’ve never been to Haiti, so that’ll be a first! I’ve been to the other ports of call many times, and like most of them. Jamaica I can take or leave, but maybe I’ll have a different experience there this time?

When I was in Ocho Rios I went and swam with a dolphin, which to this day was one of the coolest things I have done. Maybe I’m just an animal nut but I was amazed and the intelligence and grace of the dolphins. … and then I went and had a cheeseburger in paradise at good ol’ Margaritaville. Actually I think I had jerk chicken but Jimmy Buffett fans will get it.
A couple of my best trips were booked on a whim. I once booked a two-week trip to Hawaii kind of on the spot and I went to Japan once on a whim too. Two of my best trips ever for sure. Perhaps the spontaneity heightened the experience? Who knows.
Have a GREAT time, recharge the batteries so to speak.
Wait… you’re going on a cruise for singles and you’re sharing the room with someone? Am I missing something here? :p
Kidding aside, sounds like it’ll be an awesome trip. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it very much.

@Tawcan – It’s Vacations To Go – a singles travel company. The only way that works is if they pair people up to share rooms, otherwise I’d be paying the 200% again. I actually got a really great deal for a balcony cabin this way. (Cheaper than an inside going by myself)
