The MID-WEEK Socializing Game – 11 Year Bloggoversary Edition
Hey guys! It’s that time of the week, again… Time to socialize on the fly! (And, I’ll have one of those shots in the photo, please!)
Here’s how it works: I’ll start with a question, and the first person answers my question, and then asks a different question for the next person in the same comment.
I’ll start!
Today marks 11 years of blogging for me. So much has happened over the past 11 years — It’s been cathartic to look back on “what was…” last night. I’ve come a long way.
What’s the longest you’ve committed to something you are passionate about? Blind Dating dvd

I’ve been singing in bands since I was in high school. It hasn’t been continuous, but I’ve always kept just enough PA gear that I could always jump back in. I almost hate to do the math, but I’d say it’s been a total of about 25 years now. Yeesh!
Q: What’s your favorite memory from your teen years?
Average Jane’s last blog post: Average Jane’s Weekend of Rock
Rowing. Finishing up my sixth year. Although whether I love it or not depends on the weather and whom I am speaking with on the dock. I am getting married shortly so I am technically committing the rest of my life to that – does that count?
What was the best excuse you had for falling off the wagon with a commitments?
Best and only excuse…I am moving and I can’t finish everything before I go no matter how hard I try.
How did you get interested in the internet world (and blogging if you blog)?
Dee’s last blog post: All about Autumn and Winter…
I’ll answer Average Jane’s and I’ll recycle Lara’s question so they don’t get skipped…
My favourite memory of my teen years was closing night of the high school play I had the lead role in when I was in grade 12. Me and this guy who had another main role had been flirting for 3 months through rehearsals and I was sad the play was ending because I had no excuse to hang out with him anymore. But he brought me flowers and asked me out after the play ended that night. I don’t think I’ll ever experience those same kind of excited butterflies again.
Q: What was the best excuse you had for falling off the wagon with a commitment?
Laura’s last blog post: I Didn’t Mean To Become An Authority On Relationships
I’ll answer Average Jane first, since she was missed…
A) That’s a good question. I’d have to say, getting a rank promotion to Warrant Officer (putting me in charge of the Pipes and Drums) while I was at Cadet Camp for 7 weeks. More pay, less crap. I was really proud of myself.
And, Dee’s question:
A) I’ve been interested all my life. My first computer was a Commodore 64 with a handset modem (like War Games hah!) and then I started a BBS when I was quite young. From there, my involvement grew into an online journal when the internet was first available (complete with a guestbook for comments), to what you see today.
Q) What’s your favourite hobby at the moment?
haha… Okay, I’ll answer Laura’s question too, since I typed for too long and she got skipped
Q: What was the best excuse you had for falling off the wagon with a commitment?
– I’d have to say leaving my marriage. The reason? We weren’t in love any more. We did try for 13 years, so it’s a good excuse, I think!
Back to my question:
Q) What’s your favourite hobby at the moment?
My favorite hobby right how is hunting. I love sitting in the woods or in a duck blind. I like getting up in the morning before the sun comes up and having some coffee and watching as the dawn breaks.
Q. Where is you favorite destination to “road trip” to.
BigPappa’s last blog post: Is Newspaper Dying?
Ok, since the theme of “committing to something you’re passionate about” is somewhat staying in the thread, I’ll answer that question and then BigPappa’s
1.- I committed to play competitive, high-level volleyball when I was like 14 yrs old. I trained six hours a day for 6 years, until somebody told me that it was either that or my undergraduate degree. The undergrad won.
2.- My favorite destination for a “road trip”? I love the idea of just driving to wherever, but normally my road trips within Metro Vancouver end up in Deep Cove, in North Vancouver.
Raul’s last blog post: Gay-bashing on Davie Street? What’s wrong with this city?
Oh man. For once I read this in time to actually participate and there is no question for me. So, I will just leave a question.
What is the biggest decision you have made in your life that later you totally regretted?
Laurie’s last blog post: Runway to Hell
A. My major in university (turned out to be useless).
B. What is your current favourite cartoon show?
Aww… poor Laurie!!
Here’s a special question for Laurie, if she comes back (in addition to the person above her, of course)
Q: Where’s your favourite place to live now that you’ve lived all over the place!?
And on to Patricia:
A: Doh. I don’t watch many cartoons. (I love the movies tho) How about Family Guy! That works.
Q: Did you go to a Fringe or Film Fest lately? If so, what was your favourite?
I am sorry I forgot to add a question. So I’ll respond to both questions from Tanya AND add a question.
A.- My favorite place to live – Paris AND Vancouver.
A.- No, no Fringe but I have tickets to VIFF, need to see one!
Q.- How do you keep yourself on track with things you want to get accomplished?
Raul’s last blog post: Gay-bashing on Davie Street? What’s wrong with this city?
Of course I came back
To answer Tanya’s special question, at the moment I have to say my favorite place I lived was Romania…. which I know is weird. But for some reason I found myself very content there. My skin cleared up and I lost weight there! Of course thhe acne and cellulite were waiting for me at the airport when I got back to the US with welcome home balloons and some Chinese takeout. I would like to live in Vancouver again, but this time with a job, a car and some money to spend!
To answer Raul’s question, I have a notebook that I carry everywhere with notes on what I am supposed to do. If I don’t do them, then I write them again for the next day. Sometimes I repeat the same thing over and over and over until it’s just pathetic that I haven’t done it yet and I finally feel like such a heel, I make myself do it.
Here’s a new question: Do you have a favorite local wine?
Laurie’s last blog post: Tuesday Randomness
Oh, I have to answer this one!
A) Naked Grape. Esp. the Shiraz — An awesome wine, somewhat local (BC) and an incredible value at $9.99! You can’t go wrong.
Q) What did you have for dinner? (Me? NutriSystem pizza)
Tanya (aka NetChick)’s last blog post: The Great CASH GIVEAWAY!

Q: Is the US Federal Reserve a government agency?
A: No
Q: Have you been following the financial crisis like a meth addict?

What is your favorite way to relieve stress?
Thanks H
Aww…
A) Basement Jaxx – Romeo (it brings back some really great memories of a night at the Commodore to hear Basement Jaxx live. What an awesome night!)

Q) Where’s your next vacation going to be?
Happy Bloganniversary T!
A) I’m heading out on a sailboat tomorrow for 7 days. Departing from Port McNeill. Whales in Johnstone Strait & Grizzlies up Knight Inlet. It’s not technically a holiday as it’s a trip with my work. It will feel like a holiday to me as I don’t have to work and being on a boat is good anytime.
Q) Five star or basic accommodation allowing more spending money on a holiday?
A) Basic accommodation and more spending money.
Q) How long does it take you to fall in love?
Laura’s last blog post: I Didn’t Mean To Become An Authority On Relationships
ps: Thanks Charlene! (have a great, great trip!)
A) Having only really been in love once, (despite thinking I was in love other times, in hindsight, I wasn’t) it didn’t take me long. Maybe, 2 months?
Q) Do you listen to the radio?
