  • Richard says:

I did vote in the advance polling. And I’m not pleased with the results. I see on facebook that you aren’t pleased, either.

Question: If you are Canadian, what did you think of the poor turnout for voting? Americans: Do you think there will be a large turnout for November 4?

  • Raul says:

A.- Right now, I’m neither so I’ll say – I do hope both countries learn the lesson and encourage their people to vote!

  • Average Jane says:

I’ll answer Richard’s question for Americans.

I think there will be an extremely large turnout, if the caucus I attended is any indication. I know the campaign season has been mind-numbingly long, but I hope it doesn’t burn people out so that they don’t vote.

Question: How familiar are (were) you with the local issues and candidates on the ballot?

Average Jane’s last blog post: Average Jane’s Photo Wednesday

  • A: Very! I do a lot of reading, and research before I vote for any candidate and party.

Q: Were you happy with the results yesterday? (Canadians) / Americans: Are you pleased with the lead that Obama has taken?

  • Julie Anne says:

A: Yes, I’m pleased with the lead that Obama has taken and hope that it continues to grow.

Q: Are you dressing up for Halloween and if so what are you planning on being?

  • A: (Just have to answer this one!) I’m going on a Halloween cruise, so I’ve put a lot of thought into this… And, I think I’ve figured it out! It’s between a dominatrix (bhahah, so not me!), and a doctor. (depends on if I can steal a white coat from a friend who is one) Or, I’ll go out and buy scrubs.

Q: Are you doing anything special for Halloween?

  • Tawcan says:

A: At this moment… nope but that’ll change I’m sure of it.

Q: Do you think Dion will stay as the Liberal leader?

  • Laura says:

    A: I don’t know. I hope not.

Q: How long do you think is a normal minimum time frame for falling in love with someone?

  • Patricia says:

(first just a comment about voting in Canada…I never miss voting for an election and I’m dismayed to hear how few turn out for voting in the states — [a friend of mine in LA completely avoided it. Ack!] It wasn’t that long ago in Canada that women weren’t even allowed to vote because they weren’t legally even considered to be “people”. I would feel remiss to not vote considering how hard people fought for the right to do so in the first place!)

    OK, back to original programming:

    A. I don’t think there is a minimal time frame for falling in love. Sometimes it happens very quickly, & in other cases takes time to grow.

    Q. What was the last post-secondary course that you took?

  • I totally agree with Patricia on both things! We should cherish our right to vote, and love has no set operating standards. I’ve only been in love (really in love…) once. I knew within a few weeks. Wow, I miss that feeling!

Okay, onto the A: I took an interactive course online in Flex development. Aren’t I a geek?

Q: Taking that question one step further: Do you plan on taking courses in your lifetime to upgrade or change your career?

  • GusF says:

    A. I’m always looking to upgrade my skills, but just what to choose is a problem for me. I like geeky things, and I have been thinking of taking a photography course (I know not really a push for my career here).

    Q. Turning it back to the election theme, would you ever, or have you ever volunteered for a candidate in your riding?

GusF’s last blog post: It’s Time to Vote

  • Lara says:

Yes – I did some campaigning for Alexa McDonough (sp) back when I lived in her riding.

    What was your last workout?

  • shnewt says:

A: I’m going to go work out right now, damn it! Right after lunch. and maybe a cigarette…

Q: Did you vote for your local representative or for the party you wanted to win because of their leader?

  • A: I certainly didn’t vote for Hedy Fry because of who “she” is… Or, her leader is, either. I voted for Fry because she was my only choice among bad/worse choices.

Q: Are you looking forward to seeing the election results in the States, or just sick of hearing about it all the time?

  • Beth says:

A: I’m looking forward to hearing the election results in the US. Go Barack Go!

Q: What, if anything, do you know about the candidates in the Vancouver mayoral election? (I’ve paid so much attention to the federal election and just realized I have a lot of research to do before the municipal election!)

  • Lara says:

I know nothing other than that both major options on paper seem pretty much identical and bike commuter platforms that think that putting in more bike lanes is going to encourage more people to park their cars and ride a bike even though it rains in Vancouver most of the year.

What is the stupidest thing you’ve ever heard a politician say that wasn’t George Bush?

  • twitchy67 says:

Answer: “I’m going to run with Sarah Palin as my VP”

Question: If McCain and Palin win in the US and you’re already Canadian, where would you go if you’re one of those “if they win I’m moving to Canada” types?
