It's the mid-week socializing game!Hey guys! It’s that time of the week, again… Time to socialize on the fly! (And, I’ll have one of those shots in the photo, please!)

Here’s how it works: I’ll start with a question, and the first person answers my question, and then asks a different question for the next person in the same comment.

I’ll start!

What are you most looking forward to, this holiday season? -and- Have you started decorating your home yet?

    A. Every year before xmas I get together with a good friend of mine for dinner and or xmas shopping, AND we exchange gifts. I always look forward to this. I don’t really decorate for xmas much, I’m a minimalist so I put one small wreath on my apartment doorknob and I buy one really nice big pointsietta (sp?) and I am done.

    Q. What movie, would you say, had a big impact on your life and why?

  • Maktaaq says:

The big movie that’s had a big impact on my life is the Dawn of the Dead remake. It’s been about four years since I saw it, but ever since, no matter where I walk, a small part of my brain compels me to look for zombie escape routes and think about how to board up whatever hiding place I escape to.

Question: what is the weirdest present you’ve ever received?

Maktaaq’s last blog post: On WWI Primary Sources

  • Cin says:

I’ve received a lot of weird ones over the years, but the one that immediately springs to mind is the shoe box full of white men’s socks with the “for crafting” tag. WTF?

Question: When was the last time you did something for the first time?

Cin’s last blog post: OK, But I Can Pay My Rent With This?

  • A: Recently, actually. I emailed a couple of people that I was holding grudges against, and asked them for a truce. It felt great, because I was expending a ton of energy disliking these people, when all I really wanted was to move forward. Felt great. I highly recommend it.

Q: Will you be celebrating the holidays (whatever they may be for you) at home, at your family’s home, with friends, on the road vacationing, or not celebrating at all?

  • Brenna says:

A: I will be celebrating Christmas day with my family and then hopefully heading to St. Louis to visit my best friend for New Year’s (it’s almost been a year since I’ve seen her last).

Q: Who is the hardest person in your family/circle of friends to buy presents for?

Brenna’s last blog post: In defence of ghost blogging

  • Lara says:

My fiancee. He buys whatever he wants when he wants it – and I can’t buy him techno-gadgets because he sources things out and then once he decides he wants it something better comes along. Ultimately I get him “experience” presents rather than things because I find he much prefers the thought that goes behind that and if he wanted it he would already own it.

Do you go to church around the holidays?

  • Patricia says:

    A. No

    Q. Which holiday movie do you prefer “A Christmas Story” or “Black Christmas”?

  • A. Yikes – I don’t know either! My fave is the Charlie Brown Christmas (esp the Soundtrack).

    Q. If your family decided to completely opt out of the gift-giving tradition, would you be bummed out, or relieved?

Nancy (aka money coach)’s last blog post: Econ 101: US Automakers ask Canada for $2.5 Billion bailout

  • A: I don’t celebrate Christmas with my family as I don’t have any (other than my new-found ones, my cousins) so I am really only buying one gift this year… So, for me, it wouldn’t matter either way. I remember when I was much younger, I used to be an idiot about spending way too much during the holidays. I learned my lesson over the years, tho.

Q: Do you like snow, or hot sun, during the holiday season?

  • Lara says:

Let it snow. Let it snow. Let it snow!!! I’m still not used to Vancouver’s grey wet winters.

What was the last thing you ate that you were ashamed of?

  • heeh… Are you trying to out me, from my lunch, Lara :)

That would be a chocolate croissant that I had today. Yep, I felt sick right after. Why the hell was I craving it for days???

Q: What type of gaming system do you own, if any?

  • Biray says:

A: I own a Playstation 2, a Nintendo Wii, and still have my old Nintendo Entertainment System (from the 80′s). Yes, yes… even though I have a career in fitness, I still enjoy a few hours of game play! Fave game: Ratchet & Clank (the series).

Q: What is the last song or CD that you simply had to have on repeat for a few days?

Biray’s last blog post: Why Are Students Taking Health Ed In College (continued)

  • atpanda says:

A: Right now I’m obsessed with Love, the soundtrack to the Beatles Cirque du Solei (sp) show. LOVE it. ;-)

Q: Confess, are you going to see Twilight this weekend?

atpanda’s last blog post: Holidays and birthdays

  • Patricia says:

    A. I’m tempted. Vampire stories are so intense sexy (I was a Buffy/Angel addict, and I own a copy of “The Hunger” avec Catherine Deneuve/David Bowie). I have a friend who is into horror films so I’ll wait for her thumbs up first though. Also, if you like vampire flicks the one to see right now in the theatres is the Swedish film “Let the Right One In”. Geez, I’m such a movie nerd…..

    Q. What is your most embarrassing nerdy addiction (ie, desserts, reality shows etc…)

  • Gudrun says:

    A. I’m not into vampire movies – but I do want to see the newest James Bond flick because I heard it was non-stop action. However, I really love Guy Ritchies’ latest movie Rock n Rolla – the soundtrack is excellent.

    Q. Are you more giving at Christmas time with regards to street people asking for change?

  • A (Patricia, since she was missed, due to comments at the same time ;) …Err, that would be XBOX. Hands down. I’m a geek.

A (Gudrun) …I give to the United Gospel Mission every year. I never hand out change on the street.

Q: What was the last movie you saw?

  • Christine says:

Quantom of Solace. I love it but then I am not a gaget girl. If you are into Bond and his gagets this movie is not for you but if you are all about bond getting some kick ass REVENGE for Vespa’s death then this is the bond movie for you!

What is the best live-show/concert that you have ever been to?

  • Olyal says:

    A. The last movie I saw was Shrek, cos I was watching it for the millionth time as I fell asleep in bed last night. The movie I saw before that was 8 Femmes with Catherine Deneuve.

    Q. If money wasn’t an issue, where in the world would you want to travel to and why?

P.S. Tanya, I know I’ve been off the air for ages, but I’m back on board with a new blog now and looking forward to having more time in the blogosphere! :o ) Yaeli

Olyal’s last blog post: Christmas trouble… not Christmas cheer…

  • Oops, looks like I didn’t get to approving the new commenters quickly enough, and so I’ll catch up with answering both (and HI YAELI!!! Wow, it’s been forever!!)

A (Christine) – Believe it or not, I’d have to say seeing Aimee Mann live (like, uh 6 times) just doesn’t get old for me. She’s got a way of making the audience feel like they’re in her living room. It’s such a personal experience and I love her music.

A (Yaeli) I’d love to travel to Japan and spend a month there traveling throughout the country. I bet I’d have a blast… It’s *so* expensive, though!

Q Do you ever send hand-written notes anymore?

  • Tawcan says:

Gee how did I miss this?

A: Nope… my handwriting is so bad sometimes I can’t even read it myself. Good luck getting a hand-written note from me. :p

Q: What operation system do you use? If you’re using Vista do you often feel frustrated?

Tawcan’s last blog post: Officially entering the dark side
