Marketwire wins… And so does Team Diabetes!

Last night, I attended a Tazzu meetup in Yaletown, and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to have the draw for the $500 cash giveaway. I had Monica Goodbye Bafana hd Adam and Eve dvd perform the draw, just to ensure there was no impropriety — And, she drew Marketwire!

As a joke, everyone asked me to pull another name out of the bag, just to see who would have won, if one of my corporate sponsors hadn’t — I pulled Gus

was instrumental in helping me gain the sponsorship with Marketwire (his employer) in the first place (thanks Gus!!). Too funny!

When I got a hold of Gus last night to let him know the evening’s results, he let me know that Marketwire would be delighted to donate the $500 back towards Team Diabetes.

As I’d met my goal, my next step was a no-brainer. I knew others on the Team hadn’t yet acheived their pledge goals quite yet. There was one team member, Christine, who I’ve been in contact with for a few weeks now (and we’re actually meeting in person for a drink tonight) that was about $1000 off her goal still, with just days to go.

So, I put Marketwire’s generous donation towards her pledges this morning.

I’d love to help push Christine to her goal as well… And I asked her to write a quick note about her participation with Team Diabetes:

“I was tired of being the girl who although was not quite big enough to go to the plus size stores had problems finding nice clothes at regular stores.
