It's the MID-WEEK Socializing Game!
Hey guys! It’s that time of the week, again… Time to socialize on the fly! (And, I’ll have one of those shots in the photo, please!)
Here’s how it works: I’ll start with a question, and the first person answers my question, and then asks a different question for the next person in the same comment.
I’ll start!
How do you find blogs that you enjoy reading the most? (bonus question… Which blog were you at before mine?)
You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.0 feed. Both comments and pings are currently closed.

hey there – haven’t been here for AGES!
A: how do i find those blogs? through random chaotic stumblings-upon. follow a link here and there and all of a sudden you go, wow.
last blog? lemme see: http://technomarketer.typepad.com/
Q: how much sleep do you need?
isabella mori’s last blog post: another novel excerpt
A: Need? Um, about 7 hours. Want… hehe… depends on the day! Usually, about 10 hours! What do I actually get? About 5 hours. Ya. I need to do something about that!
Q: Where’s your favourite hangout in your home town? Why?
Hometown hangout: The place that let me drink at 16.
Before coming here I was at my wife’s blog http://www.theslackdaily.com/
Ok, a question: Favorite thing to get from the Ice Cream man as a kid?
will betheboy’s last blog post: Introducing The Be The Boy Holidays – 2008 Edition
Favorite Ice Cream as a kid: Any one with the gumball eye…
Question: Name the last place you visited that wasn’t constant grey skies for 3 straight months?(and yes, I’m still adjusting to living in Vancouve again..
)
Hey ps: Isabella, great to see ya back here! And, welcome Zac! I’m glad you made it by! (ps: Will, your wife’s blog is hysterical… I’m adding both of you guys on my blogroll tomorrow!!)
A: I used to live in LA, and it was *always* (well, except for January when it rained) sunny. Believe it or not, that got old, too.
But, to answer your question, that would be Miami/Caribbean a few weeks ago.
Q: Do you spend Christmas morning at home, or at a relatives (or do you celebrate the holidays on another day entirely?)
A: Always spend it at home with the kids.
Q: Open 1 present before Christmas or wait for them all on Christmas?
Gary Jones :: BlueFur.com’s last blog post: Business 101: Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?
hello gary!
A: we celebrate x-mas in stages, due to one part of the family being here in vancouver, and another in kelowna. so i’ll have opened a bunch of them before the big bash at our in-laws’ on the 25th in the morning.
Q: do you have any quirky / interesting holiday traditions?
isabella mori’s last blog post: another novel excerpt
A: We had two that I’ll mention here:
1) When I got to be around 10-years-old or so, my mom started making pasta shells stuffed with ricotta cheese for dinner on Christmas. It was a hit, and it stuck.
2) The weekend before Christmas, we’d all tumble into the car around 8pm or so, and drive to the “ritzy” part of town to look at the lights on the big houses (or mansions, I guess). Some of them went all out!
Question: What’s the best holiday surprise you ever received, and what made it special?
A: I would have to say when I received walkie talkies when I was 9. I was begging my parents for them for months, and they kept saying no. I was convinced I wouldn’t get them — Think “A Christmas Story”. I was beside myself when I opened them up. A year later? I ran out of batteries, and tried to operate one of them by plugging it directly into a wall socket. I never professed to be a brilliant child.
Q: Do you, or have you ever, done crafts at Christmas?
A: Oh lord. Last year I made a recipe book — by hand — for my sister’s present! I got really tired at the end and the writing got a bit scribbly. I suck.
Q: What’s your favourite holiday treat? Bonus points for a recipe link.
A. I make dates stuffed with pine nuts salted then fried with butter and honey. Served cold its like candy, served hot, its like sticky candy heaven.
Q. What films/tv shows do you try not to miss during the holidays?
A: I’d have to say ‘A Wonderful Life’. My family watches it every year without fail ( and my mom cries every time too ).
Q: Favorite Christmas album!
( Thanks NetChick =D SOCIALIZING FAIL )
A. That would be “Charlie Brown Christmas”, album that accompanies the special.
B. Have you ever seen/remember the terrific canadian christmas film “The Christmas Martian”? (it was made in 1971, it was in french and overdubbed. Best scene was when the kids were shot at by smarties!).
Nope! But I was born in 1980, so that’s probably why.
Q: What’s your earliest childhood memory?
Laura’s last blog post: Honoured
A: I was about 3… And I was playing “horsie” on the vacuum cleaner. My mom was thrilled to be pulling me around. Not. Remember — Not the brightest kid, apparently. Yet, another example.
Q: What are you asking Santa for, this Christmas? (or um, Quanzaa, Hanukkah [place holiday of choice]?)
A. Asking santa for ~2 feet of 18gauge steel plate.
Q. Where is the one place you really wish you were right now.
A. I really wish I was already getting the massage that I’ve booked for spa day with my sister over the holidays.
Q. Favourite accomplishment of 2008?
A: I work for an eco-tour operator. It would have to be measuring my employers carbon footprint for the 2007 calendar year by attending a series of workshops put on by the Pembina Institute and Ecotrust, and then purchasing carbon offsets with Offsetters.
Q. Are you planning holidays for 2009 or are you tightening your belt with the current economic situation?
A: very much hoping for a visit to hawaii late january. a close friend of mine lives there and we’ve been thinking about going for ages. it’s about time.
Q: where would you be tempted to spend the most impulse money if you only had 20 minutes – toy store, book store, clothing store, shoe store, gadget store …. or … ?
isabella mori’s last blog post: whitsunday islands on a wordless wednesday
A: Oh, that’s easy! I just sold one of my laptops last night to raincoaster, so I’d be heading to NCIX with specs in mind for my next portable computing device! (great questions guys!)
Q: Mint chocolate chip, or plain chocolate?
A. In general, I’m not a big fan of things being mixed in with my chocolate (I’m a pure dark chocolate fan!), but if I *have* to have a flavour mixed in with my chocolate, mint is OK. As long as it is peppermint. I once had a mint chocolate chip ice cream sandwich and the mint was *spearmint*. Barf!
Q. What was the very last thing you ate before reading this comment? (Extra points if it was mint chocolate).
Beth’s last blog post: Diet Dr. Pepper FTW!
A: Ok, that is just freaky. I am not even kidding, the last thing I ate was a handful of mint chocolate M&Ms (the holiday bags just came out and boy was I excited to see those at the store!) Oh, I also had a peppermint mocha this morning – mint chocolate anything is totally my favourite holiday treat!
Q: What is the most creative Christmas gift you’ve ever given anyone?
i just can’t get enough of this today
A: the one i remember (there may have been more creative ones) was this. my mother and i had a history of starting and never quite finishing these elaborate projects. so one christmas, i started knitting something, left it with the needles and the ball of yarn, mounted the whole thing, cross-stitched ‘the unfinished gift’ as a heading, framed it, and gave it to my mother.
B: what’s your going-to-bed routine?
isabella mori’s last blog post: whitsunday islands on a wordless wednesday
A: washing my face with just water (I know, weird, right?) taking out my contacts, and then crawling under the covers to fall asleep to the late news. I’m incredibly boring
Q: What’s your favourite going-out meal these days?
