Welcome to the internet.
I don’t know what sites you’ve been frequenting, but that video is a) extremely funny and b) extremely accurate. The things outlined in the video really and truly are how the rest of the internet interact with each other. It may not be tasteful, but the internet is for *everyone* – not just tea-sipping yoga masters who fart roses and read the Economist before bedtime.
So you don’t conduct yourself like a 15-year-old YouTube commenter – good for you. Making someone censor themselves because you don’t understand internet humour is pretty fucking fascist, though.

I totally agree with Kimli, but at the same time, if 3 or 4 people found it offensive enough to either leave me a comment or an email, how many more were offended and didn’t reach out to tell me?
I just didn’t want to create controversy, when this blog is about community not division.
That said, my anonymous blog? Yea, I write for ME and ME only there, and I wouldn’t have pulled the video there. (in fact, I haven’t — and interestingly enough, I got only positive response there.)
My boss even called me “Canadian” for pulling it. I don’t mind that, though.

Wow. Ok. Thanks for posting the link Tan. It’s actually really well done. I think some people don’t understand what the video is really focusing on and assume it’s just an attempt to be funny through ignorance. It’s actually very insightful and a sad reflection of the diatribe that occurs on sites that solicit feedback.
Regardless, I just wanted to let you know that I’m very offended by cruise ships. Especially people who can take them when I can’t. Can you please refrain from posting any more images or stories about cruise ships? They are so phallic.
(by the way, that was not a slam at you for choosing to remove the link. your blog, you can absolutely do what you want.)

I agree with all those who say that its your blog and you can post what you like. If something offends others and they let you know…that’s fine, but there is no need to remove anything. They just don’t have to read or watch the offensive material again.

Was I offended by the video? No. Can I see that someone could be offended by it? Sure can.
As mentioned by a couple of other people here, as much as the video uses some obtuse adjectives (among other things), it is an accurate portrayal of what goes on with message boards and the like. Heck, it’s one of the reasons I moderate comments on my site, let alone moderate other things (such as the Canucks FanZone LiveBlog) – you just can’t control what someone is going to type.

I think the only way you could both get the joke AND be offended by it was if you felt it was endorsing that kind of… well, I’ll say “dialogue”.
–Or if you were offended by ASCII Pedobear, but that’s kind of a meta-humor thing here… either way, the video’s pretty cynical in my opinion.
