Cruisin’ at Sea… Part 1
Hey guys!
Miss me yet? It’s Sunday evening, and I thought I’d give y’all an update! Firstly, I am having a fabulous time…
It feels like 3 or 4 days, already, and it’s only been just over 24 hours since Laurie and I settled in onboard the Sapphire Princess. If you want to see the terrific weather we’re experiencing, just check out the sidebar — It’s a live photo updated every few minutes.
When we got through customs yesterday, both Laurie and I were exhausted. It was quite the ordeal, honestly. I should have used my Canadian birth certificate and driver’s license, but I thought that the US customs required a passport, so I elected to travel on my UK passport (with my old married name… Wow, it’s weird to sign with my married name, again!)
But, after about an hour hold up (it seems this ship is filled with UK retirees…), we were able to unpack, and relax. It was really nice… I always insist on bringing my luggage aboard with me, as opposed to waiting hours for it to arrive and sit outside our cabin until we realize it’s there. We were able to unpack and be ready for some fun within half an hour of finding our mini-suite.
No… We didn’t get upgraded. Boo! But, at least it has a bathtub, and a big balcony! We enjoyed a glass of champagne yesterday while I marveled at sailing out of my home city. It’s beautiful, travelling under the Lions Gate bridge from a cruise ship.
I also arrived to a couple of suprises from someone who wanted to make my birthday special… More about that in a future post! The thought was so sweet, and I was very touched. I now have a new bear (for those of you that don’t know, I have Bob the Bear, but he was left at home in a box… So, now I have Bee Bee, the pink trangendered bear… LOL. You see, Bee Bee has some gender confusion. She/He is loved just the same, though
We got to bed early last night — both of us were incredibly exhausted (both Laurie and I are going through moves right now!) and I woke up this morning at 7:45am feeling refreshed and ready for a relaxing day at sea.
Our table mates for dinner are interesting… We’re seated at a table for 8, and 4 of them are from the UK (and all are retired — I haven’t seen many if any people our age on this cruise, actually) and one couple is from Langley, not far from where my step mom lives. The one Canadian couple, Bill & Pat are super funny… And, will be on the ship for 2 weeks like I am.
Laurie is celebrating my birthday a few days early tonight, and we’re about to go to the Steakhouse for dinner this evening. Should be a blast! One formal night is enough for me, so I’m glad we’re fogoing the extreme formality tonight, and opting for nice, but not fancy.
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend… More about my trip in a day or so! Next up? Ketchikan, and our zipline canopy adventure! Stay tuned! Chicago Massacre: Richard Speck ipod The Guardian psp

Happy birthday, Tan. I hope that you and Laurie have a great time and the weather and water cooperate in that regard. Also, say hi to Bee Bee for me. I’m sure being a T/G bear isn’t easy.
